Nathan Ruiz who covered Oklahoma State sports.

Excited to announce that I’m joining The Baltimore Sun as an Orioles beat writer later this month. The Big 12 Tournament will be my last assignment for The Oklahoman. I could not have asked for a better group of partners, editors and mentors to work alongside this past year.

Where's he rank on the 20-80 scale?

I'm not a good enough writer to grade anyone else's writing, something something about glass houses.

I do think he's good, I think if Meoli can coach him up in baseball knowledge, he'll be a strong beat writer.

Here's an article he wrote if you want to check it out, you can find all his work for the Oklahoman by clicking his name.

I was making a prospect joke ;)

Beat writers don't have to wow anyone with their prose.  Just stick to the who, what, where, when and why.

And you're a good writer, take some credit.

The 20-80 joke is so prevalent on prospect/draft twitter that it's gotten to the point where it's not really a joke and some scout/analysts grade everything from beer to puns with the scale. It's pretty weird.

I can write well enough to get my baseball/prospect knowledge across. I wouldn't go much further than that. I appreciate that compliment though.

There's a South Pacific island. Their King lives in an big grass hut, two stories, built inside a tree. This king has a thing about thrones. He collects them. Other tribute islands bring them to him as gifts. He has his people building him more thrones all the time.

Then one day, the King's hut completely collapses to the ground!

The moral of this story?

People who live in grass houses shouldn't stow thrones.
