Bahama O's Fan
DFA (I think) by Boston. Good defense. Should we?

oriole
Meh...I’m happy with the catching situation as is. Edit: my above statement is only true within the context of the current plan for the team
jtschrei
He has not been good the past two seasons offensively. Like bad. He's going to be paid 2.5 million. He'll be 30 this year. I'll pass.
Bahama O's Fan
If he's really good defensively and can help the pitchers, what's 2.5 million?

Severino and Sucre do the same thing and I believe cost less. Wynns can do the same thing when healthy and makes the league minimum. Why spend money to re-tread? Bahama O's Fan
Okay, I don't know all of our catchers that well. I thought Leon was a far better defensive catcher than the guys we had.

Money that could be better spent on improving the team's scouting capacity, analytics capacity, international infrastructure, and possibly signings of international talent. Plus probably a lot of stuff I don't know about (or have read about and have forgotten). And putting money away for the time when spending a few million more on extending or acquiring player might really help the team. You might say, "Hey, don't worry, the new de facto owners are committed to plowing and are plowing plenty of resources into those areas, and a couple million for a veteran catcher to work with our young pitchers won't affect that." But I don't believe that for a second.
Yachtsman
Saw Dan Straily was just released by the Marlins. I would seriously consider grabbing him if it costs nothing to solidify the rotation.
