So this is a guy, Maryland HS guy, 18th round pick last year. Had a good GCL debut. Projectable body, heard reports that he t96 in HS. He was low 90s in the GCL, featuring a high spin curveball that could be a future plus pitch. 

He’s repeating the GCL this year and has gotten off to a strong start. 

12IP, 0.75 ERA, 6 BB, 15 K 

Hoping he gets a bump to Aberdeen so I can get a look at him.

      I think Cal's record was able to happen because of a time in O's history when there was no strong manager.  I doubt Cal's streak would have made it to one season if he had played his whole season under Weaver.  Weaver was way ahead of his time on matchups, platoons and resting players.  The  bigger thing about Cal's streak, imo was that it was allowed to happen, where it took on a life of it's own, dwarfing the team.  I'm not diminishing the feat, but there's rarely a player that plays 162 games in a year now.  It's just recognized that people wear down and need rest.  I want to say to that probably the 5 players behind Cal on the streak list did things to basically cheat and prolong their streak especially Gehrig, where he would hit once and then not play the rest of the game.

      There was an attempt to debunk this article in the other O'Hearn thread where it's the OP, but in it O'Hearn explains that his efforts to change launch angle and severely limit when he swings underlie the improved performance since coming to the Orioles.

      I'm thinking that Suarez can be that extra high leverage arm the O's need.  Someone who can take some of the closing pressure off Kimbrel.  No, Hyde, the closer doesn't have to get every save.  I hate when Hyde uses every high leverage arm in a single game then the next game you just have the B squad.

      Would have been nice for his campaign if he had been allowed to go 8 or even go for the shutout.

      He looked much more pull happy when he was up, with bigger leg lift. In the minors he seem to handle pitches away much better, taking them to left and left center.

      I've got to think that as long as we keep winning we trade for some bullpen help.  Kimbrel is fine and it's good that he's a vet that figure stuff out in between outings, but he's 35 and can't be relied on for nearly the same workload as we leaned on Felix for.
