Why would a team offer anything now? Sit back and wait for the Orioles to non tender him.

As Luke pointed out, if 2 or more teams claim him, they'd have to trade to get him.

I suspected for quite awhile that there were clubhouse issues with Villar when he was in Milwaukee. He's also an atrocious defender and below average base runner. The only scenario he would thrive in is if he played for a team that had nothing to lose and let him do whatever he wanted for a full season. That's exactly what happened last season. It certainly wouldn't happen on a good team. And Andrew Cashner is one of the worst pitchers in baseball. I'm amazed that anyone gave us anything for him.

Elias inherited just about nothing in terms of viable trade pieces. The team made the decision to let a GM they had know intention of retaining trade Schoop and Gausman. Those pieces should have been left for Elias to deal with.

Cashner was far from one of the worst pitchers in baseball.  You even saw guys like Hess, Wright and Straily.  This is hyperbole.

Do you honestly fault Elias for Villar not being traded? I mean, instead of the idea that other teams aren't willing to give value for him?

Did you answer any of the above questions?

If he was going to DFA him in the offseason you take what is offered at the deadline that he refused. No we get nothing!

So you think Elias decided in July to DFA him today?

And what did he refuse in July?

Elias has made zero trades since taking over. Including Cashner for a couple of bags of balls. He's done nothing with the international money. He doesnt get credit for Rutschman as anyone couldve made that pick.

Now he's proved he can't get value out of trading our best player

Takes two to tango. Mike can’t trade him if no one wants him at the price.
