  I think you have to divide this into three categories:

1.    Players who are horrible, but have managed to stay on the roster all year.   Here it comes down to Richie Martin vs. Chris Davis.     By both flavors of WAR, Martin is worse, but if you don’t buy the defensive metrics for Martin, you can make the case for Davis.    That’s the case I’ll make.   Davis.

2.   Players who are horrible, but still managed to get a substantial bit of playing time.    Lots of candidates here too, but I choose Cedric Mullins over Dan Straily.

3.    Players who are horrible, but only got a cup of coffee.   Too many to choose from, but I’ll go with Tayler Scott.    5.2 IP, 14 H, 16 R, 16 ER, 5 HR, 5 BB, 3 K’s.

I think I’ll go throw up now.

Yeah if you're talking about someone who has been on the team all year I don't think you can make a case for really anyone over Davis.

If you're talking about people who have been awful for a short time and cut / demoted / whatever............ idk.  David Hess.  Straily.  Mullins.

I think all things considered, I’d have to say Cedric Mullins.

We knew Davis was a train wreck. Richie Martin is a Rule 5 guy, and I think the expectations were low to begin with. But Mullins really had a chance to step up and claim CF for years to come. Instead, he looked like a guy who should never start another major league game. It’s especially consequential because, for all our great outfield prospects, none seem like an obvious long-term solution for center...

Yep, Mullins' utter ineptitude is why the CF position on this team has been screwed up this year. Even with his terrible defensive metrics, I would have taken one more year of Jones than the clown show we've seen in CF this year.

I figured Davis played less than Martin, so his WAR/inning would be worse, but I was wrong. Davis has played in 6 fewer games altogether, but actually has 39 more plate appearances and played about a dozen more innings. 

So of the regulars, I guess the stats say it's Martin.

Well, rephrase the question. Which player that has had at least some success at the ML level has disappointed. But, CD certainly fits into the category of overmatched or just collecting a check.

Chris Davis...it is the durable consistency of his awfulness that carries the day..

The other candidates, mostly pitchers, are just usually bad  but very occasionally are good...and it is just harder to award them the overall worst player title....like Ynoa today for example...really bad pitching in that first inning...I mean it is hard to locate much worse as a so called pitcher...but then he occasionally does something good for a few innings or so. 

Chris, on the other hand, he is epically bad.

Davis and Martin are both awful hitters, defensively Martin has more value, so Davis is my choice.

Because he’s certainly not good in the OF. I think guys like this are overvalued for their versatility, but he’s no Zobrist. Heck, he’s no Flaherty.
