We claimed SS Jack Reinheimer off waivers last year and then we passed him through shortly after. This could be a similar situation. 

We need middle IF depth badly in this organization.  That fact that this guy can “play” multiple IF positions and hits lefties ok, gives him value to us. He’s a potential platoon buddy with Wilkerson, Ruiz, and Alberto. Also, depth to replace Villar. 

Bold prediction... we draft another SS in the Rule 5 if we have a chance.

He is a Right-Handed hitter and has the same platoon splits as most RH hitters.

If you're strictly platooning two guys so you can get a position to replacement level, another option would be to just sign a single guy for like $800k who'd be replacement level all by himself.

Like I said, an entire off-season to go.  Was trying to get a view of what they might consider for these 2.  I'm sure it's more about seeing what sticks, than planning on a platoon.
