To me, that's far different than cutting payroll. But yes, payroll is far, far less than it was. But I haven't seen anything that says ownership ordered that. 

I mistakingly thought any cut in payroll came at the direction of owenship.

So, signing every pitcher willing to sign a minor league contract would improve the pitching? This makes no sense.

I don't care.  I only really care how the staff looks in 2021 and after.  Who the Orioles have on the mound for 2020 is inconsequential when it comes to considering pitchers who aren't being looked at

Reduce payroll, while you build a competing team from the youth and draft takes time, I believe ownership didnt feel the need to spend money on FAs, as there was too many holes that needed to be filled.

Several of us, believe the payroll will start to rise as the team gets better, the money is there for them to spend, when its relevant.

I believe ownership bought a team of executives and a plan. I do not believe they are involved in baseball operations. Unlike their father was.

Agreed. 

People can agree with Elias' plan or don't, but for the first time in a long time, I think our head of baseball operations is calling all the shots.

It really appears to be the case. Very nimble. Doesn't appear to be checking on anything.

It doesn't. I wonder when either Elias or the Owners figure out he is a huge hindrance to the Team. Or when either Elias or the Owners finally cut him loose. This decision is becoming seriously overdue.

The earliest they'll cut Davis loose is the end of Spring Training. The fact he's still on the team right now means they'll at least give him through the Spring to show if he can rekindle any part of his past success. As long as the likes of Hess and Smith and Wilkerson (although move valuable at this point than Davis) shows there are still ways to find 40-man spots if needed. There will be another 40-man crunch (potentially) at the end of Spring Training and that's when it may make sense to part with Davis unless he shows a glimmer of hope. Otherwise, the next point may be when Mountcastle gets promoted.

Elias talked about Akin, Kremer, and Zimmerman all getting a shot at the majors THIS YEAR, and specifically mentioned Akin as one who could compete for a chance to go north with the team on March 26.

      I’ve been rending my garments over Adley and his struggles for months now. But I will say that it seems like a bit of an odd time to come together as a group on the notion of benching him — just as he’s been starting to show some signs of being Adley again.  Over the last week of the season, Adley had a 50% hard hit rate and an average EV of 89.9 MPH. Those numbers absolutely dwarf what he was doing for months, when he was sitting at more like a 26% HH rate and an 85 MPH EV. Anecdotally, I can’t even remember the last time we saw Adley drive a ball into the left-center gap like he did multiple times against MIN. That’s Adley at his very best, and it was a sight for sore eyes.  I’m not sold that he’s 100% back, and I would still stick with McCann catching Burnes tomorrow (especially since using Adley as the DH is viable with a LHP starter in Ragans). But I sincerely doubt we can run the table without at least a few stretches of Adley being Adley — so I think this recent spurt is probably enough to warrant sending him out there every day still, in hopes that he really is getting it locked back in.

      Well, they likely would not have drafted an overslot SS with the second round pick if they had taken another HS SS first overall, so would you rather have Henderson and Rutschman or just Witt?

      The Orioles starters absolutely have to do better against the Royals. You can't ask this bullpen to pitch most of the game and expect to win. Right now I probably trust Coulombe the most and Soto (which I never would have guessed a couple weeks back). Perez has been really shaky recently to the point I'm wondering is he nursing a tired arm or minor injuey. Cano hasn't been good as well and O's really need him to get back into a groove. And Akin is usually trustworthy, but only starting the inning clean.
