That statement is like when a GM gives the manager a vote of confidence two weeks before he gets fired.

Or...if the Nats and O's would just get along my life would be easier. Therefore, I deem it viable.

I really liked Bart Giamatti and was shocked at his sudden passing. David Stern for the first half of his tenure as NBA commissioner was generally well liked.

I watch NBA draft a couple of times.  He is booed pretty loudly when he comes to the microphone.

And yet one of his first acts as a commissioner was to take the All-Star game away from us and give it to, I think, San Diego. For this and many another reasons, I do not wish good things for him

I'd have done the same thing if a team was suing the rest of the league.  I'm certainly not going to reward them.

I do not recall that Baltimore ever had been given the all-star game.   People were hoping to get it, and we didn’t, but I don’t think it was “taken away.”

Are any sports commissioners Ever liked by anyone?

Liked is probably too much to ask. My personal criteria is: Be a good Ambassador for the sport, increase revenue, keep the Owners in line, and don't screw up the Sport with a bunch of rule changes. Manfred fails miserably at the last one.

Baseball was alternating between leagues, going from team to team, and it was our turn and everyone expected it but suddenly it went to San Diego( I think) which was a consecutive NL team and which had already hosted the All-Star game. Yes it was ours and yes Manfred got pissy and took it away.

    • The outfield might be slick from all the rain. I think that can influence lineup decisions.
    • @Bahama O's Fanor a free trial of any streaming platform. YouTube TV, Directtv, etc.
    • I’ve been rending my garments over Adley and his struggles for months now. But I will say that it seems like a bit of an odd time to come together as a group on the notion of benching him — just as he’s been starting to show some signs of being Adley again.  Over the last week of the season, Adley had a 50% hard hit rate and an average EV of 89.9 MPH. Those numbers absolutely dwarf what he was doing for months, when he was sitting at more like a 26% HH rate and an 85 MPH EV. Anecdotally, I can’t even remember the last time we saw Adley drive a ball into the left-center gap like he did multiple times against MIN. That’s Adley at his very best, and it was a sight for sore eyes.  I’m not sold that he’s 100% back, and I would still stick with McCann catching Burnes tomorrow (especially since using Adley as the DH is viable with a LHP starter in Ragans). But I sincerely doubt we can run the table without at least a few stretches of Adley being Adley — so I think this recent spurt is probably enough to warrant sending him out there every day still, in hopes that he really is getting it locked back in.
    • Apparently, if you just waited to buy tickets, you could just basically go for free. Well done orioles.
    • Well, they likely would not have drafted an overslot SS with the second round pick if they had taken another HS SS first overall, so would you rather have Henderson and Rutschman or just Witt?
    • It’s my understanding that nationally televised games are usually blacked out. Consider a free trial subscription of Fubo if they are still offering it.
    • The Orioles starters absolutely have to do better against the Royals. You can't ask this bullpen to pitch most of the game and expect to win. Right now I probably trust Coulombe the most and Soto (which I never would have guessed a couple weeks back). Perez has been really shaky recently to the point I'm wondering is he nursing a tired arm or minor injuey. Cano hasn't been good as well and O's really need him to get back into a groove. And Akin is usually trustworthy, but only starting the inning clean.
