#50THANNIVERSARY

On this day in 1970, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Boston Red Sox 5-1.

Tom Phoebus went the distance and allowed 5 hits in winning his 4th game of the season.  He walked 4 and struck out 7 .

Mark belanger, Frank Robinson and Boog Powell all blasted solo homeruns in support of Phoebus; for Belanger, it was his first of the season.

Paul Blair contributed a 2 for 4, 1 run scored effort while Powell finished the day 2 for 2 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI.

The game was played in a brisk 2 hours and 17 minutes.
