I have never seen, in my baseball watching life, such a throw to second on an attempted steal...looked like Tommy Smothers and a yo-yo trick

Batted ball, not thrown ball. On a thrown ball, the runners are part of the field. In the very early days of the game, a runner could be out out when hit by a thrown ball (called "soaking" the runner).

Well I left because I knew the game was going to go south, and I was right. I did look, just in case, but I was right. Now I’m sad because I was right
