On this day in 1970, the Orioles defeated the Cleveland Indians 4-3.  Dick Hall recorded the win in relief of starter, Jim Hardin.  Hall pitched 3.0 innings of no-hit baseball and struck out 1 to earn his 10th win of the season.

Hardin allowed 3 runs on 9 hits with 3 strikeouts over 6.0 innings of work.

Merv Rettenmund hit his 18th homerun of the year and went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Jim Hardin, I haven't  heard that name for a long time.  He was one of my favorite Orioles back in 1968 when he won 18 games and he reminded me of another Jim on the pitching staff, Jim Palmer.  I don't know what happened to Hardin, he didn't have a long career he was out of baseball by his mid 20's as I recall.
