In other news about irritating sabermetic icons, I recently discovered that I've been blocked on Twitter by Bill James.  I essentially never tweet anything, I just follow others.  And my twitter handle is obscure and nobody would know it's me.  But one day I was feeling chippy and Bill posted something that I disagreed with while also using an acronym I didn't recognize.  One of Bill's pet peeves is people who use acronyms without spelling them out, so I tweeted back "please spell out all acronyms".  And he blocked me.

I just browsed Bill James’ Twitter feed and you should thank him for blocking you.

I didn't notice for a month, not a huge deal.  There's occasionally some worthwhile insight, but not nearly as much as on his web site (much of that not from him).  I'd be much more disappointed if Tango blocked me.

Mullins hit his 27th homer last night.   3 homers, 4 steals to go to make the 30-30 club.   

It’s amazing how much power he generates at his size.   Such a quick, efficient swing.

Each time he hits a mini slump and you think he's wearing down, he comes right back atya.  Am amazing, and very consistent season.

Agreed.  Just when you think he's turning into a pumpkin, he turns it around.

One of the few reasons to keep watching in September.  Would also be awesome if he could lead the league in hits, too.

Basically the same power numbers as 5'8 165 lb all-star Ozzie Albies.  Mullins has actually eclipsed Albies because he hits for a significantly higher average and OBP.  Interestingly, while Albies leads the NL in total bases with 266, Mullins has 281.  What a terrific season Mullins is having.

Just noodling around on BB-ref for ten minutes (there is no systematic way to search for this), I did not find anyone in the last decade who had allowed more than 24 inherited runners to score (Tate’s current total).    However, I did find that Steve Cishek also has allowed 24 inherited runners to score this year, so Tate has competition as to who will allow the most this season.   

I’m sure Drungo or someone else who subscribes to BB-ref’s advanced search tools could probably tell us what the record is.   I’d bet it’s not a lot higher than 24, if at all.
