Well, if that's how the Cubs want to use their resources, so be it.  But it would be crazy to pay a catcher over $6 mil to back up Rutschman so I still have no problem with the O's taking a pass.

Wow.  He's 6-6 and 239 lbs per baseball reference.  Can that be right?

I like Perez.  He knows the batters in the AL.  Good defense.  And he may not hit for average but he has some pop.  Was injured last season with a broken finger followed by inflammation of the shoulder.  But he did play in Sept.  He is a FA.   But he may 5.5m last year.   Will his price come down to the O's level?

Perez just signed with the Pirates.

Elias probably offered him a minor league deal with a deferred salary.

Perez got 1/5m and a starting catcher position from the Pirates.  Much better that the O's could offer for a back up.
