This is what I don't get- how on Earth did Lyles get $7 million?

Dylan Bundy is 2 years younger, has a much better track record and pedigree, and has been significantly better more recently, and yet his 1 year deal with an option from another 2021 cellar-dweller (MIN) was $2 million less than Lyles' 1 year deal with an option.

Like, I understand that the Orioles have to pay a premium these days due to their tough division and poor team quality, but even so, those 2 deals should absolutely be reversed.

But successfully spending money and hiring guys involves a little bit more than flinging money at a random warm body who has a baseball reference page. This is a stupid waste of money. If this is what you’re going to get for your $7 million why not just keep your $7 million and pick up random replacement guys. That’s stupid too but at least it’s cheap

They offered him the deal now but will wait until after the new agreement to do the physical? Sounds like Elias is gonna spend a few hundred to send a pizza to Lyles house during negotiations.
