So, what are we going to talk about now?

FWIW, minor leaguers are still able to use team facilities, work with coaches, rehab injuries, etc.  And, minor league transactions can still take place.  So teams can sign minor league free agents and the minor league Rule 5 can still take place.  Also, the minor league spring training and regular seasons can still take place.  If the work stoppage actually stretches into the season, I might need to ride down to Norfolk once or twice.  Glad Bowie's not far.

We could start early on the #1 pick of the 2023 draft.

Fangraphs Longenhagen updated their BOARD today and has an SEC shortstop #1 and an ACC third baseman #2.

Premature.

We know how good Elias is but we know it isn't a sure thing.  Elias has managed to finish second worse and fourth worse despite his best efforts.

I would think that if it was done in batting practice folks would notice and talk about it.

I mentioned it a few times. Saw both Gallo and Schwarber hit the warehouse in batting practice. Both hit near the “C” painted on the building. Gallo hit just below it, Schwarber hit halfway up the letter, a few feet to the right of it.

How about the pettiness of MLB to take away the headshots on the teams MLB.com pages.  What a bunch of douches.

:D.. I didn't even notice that. Saying that, I don't think it's pettiness. If they have no CBA in place, maybe they think the players could sue them for using their likeness/pictures?

There is always Fantasy sports. Everyone would love to hear your MLB Keeper leagues. How's your FF team doing? :)

I vote for the 31-100 list. Great idea. Hope Tony is up for the challenge.

Well I already have basically up to 49 with the players to watch next year. I didn't put them in order after 30 because honestly, I could switch them around in almost any order and make some sense. Might be fun to try and do a top 75.

There’s been some discussion of this.   The warehouse angles away from home plate, so that 439 down the foul line increases very quickly as balls go left of there.   The ground there is 25 feet higher than at home plate, so the “true distance is longer than 439.   And, the wind currents on Eutaw Street aren’t favorable, as wind bounces off the warehouse and pushes back the other way.

Is there a good vinyl shop in Baltimore?

There used to be a good record shop at Fell's Point, but it's been a long time since I was in there. I live in NC, so I'm not always record shopping when I'm in town. I did find a great book on the band Big Star while in there once.

There's a record store in Shepherdstown, WVA that has a lot of bootleg vinyls.  They had a lot of bootleg Metallica and I got one...it's pretty good, it's from 1989.  FM radio broadcast, but it's pretty clear.

I used to see Metallica's guitar tech (a British guy) over near Chapel Hill NC where some guys race go-karts for fun. It's way out in the woods on a red clay home-made track. About half the people who race are either guitarists or recording engineers. I haven't been in awhile. I was not particularly good at go-kart racing. I got lapped a good bit!

    • Very weak.  OTOH, there's still a possibility that Jackson Merrill won't win in the NL.  Who didn't want Cowser to have had that rookie season?
    • Who’d a thunk it? There’s a chance? Almost like it’s a long season. Now if only that Mayo guy would do something.
    • Jeez, it really was a welcome game tonight.  I had a good buzz going...   Now I have to factor in your chronic angst.  Thanks man.
    • If we enter the Yankees series down by three games, we have a mathematical chance. However, we are going to have to intentionally walk Judge and Soto every single AB. The athletics did us no favors tonight.  Still four games out..
    • I know. I'm a hand wringer and a whiner when it comes to this team. I sometimes annoy myself with all this baseball nonsense. But really deep down,I'm still the 8 year old who lived and died with every Oriole game. Still. Im that kid. So when this team was really horrible like for most of the second half, it almost made me nauseous just to watch them lose in all kinds of ways. Then all those injuries in a wave. I really felt they weren't going to make the postseason at all. But baseball is a crazy game, and a light switch can be turned on in an instant. Maybe that Santander walk off HR on Thursday threw a switch. Because Friday night, this was a different team. They still strike out a lot, and Burnes was brilliant, but I feel maybe something is moving. Seeing Coluombe come in and strike two batters out, and Webb, not as good, but good enough with a big lead...and to see Cowser and McCann blast two, and Tony again with a HR...It got my juices flowing. Look, maybe they wont play well this weekend, maybe they will. And then the dreaded Yankees might break our hearts next week. But why think that way now.?Urias is coming, then Westburg, then maybe Mounty, and even possibly Grayson at the end . If we can somehow put the pieces together and get our mojo back, and have the players contribute, we maybe, just maybe, might have a little ray of hope.I still think this roster is talented when all our pieces are together, and as good as anyone when we are playing well. So, I'm not asking for a miracle. I'm just asking for a chance to see this team with most of the pieces together again, and compete.Maybe it's even a long shot, but I am still that 8 year old living and dying for a chance to see my boys make me proud. And these are my boys.
    • Velocity was 1.5-2mph down across the board. Movement was good, especially the sweeper. The fastballs worry me at that velocity though... not sure he should be immediately high leverage in the way he used to be.
    • Nicely done. Lol. Yes I remember that with Minnesota.
