Would you sign Trea Turner…for CF?

If the Os could trade Mullins for pitching, would you sign Turner for CF?

For me, I’m vehemently against signing any non first base IFer.

Turner gives you the flexibility for CF.

The problem  is, you are likely playing high end SS money to get him even he plays CF for you.

I would probably rather sign Nimmo for half (or less) the cost.

I don’t need an excuse to trade Mullins.  He should go regardless.

What do you have against a 4 WAR player (3.8 acc to bb ref this year) playing with us for another few years?

He is ARB-1 for 2023, so he won't be too crazy expensive.   He is 28 so I can see an argument for not giving him a big extension for sure.

He had a crazy good 2021.   Sure that was maybe his peak.....but maybe he can get closer to that in 2023?

Seems to me the discussion about moving him should only happen if we have another CF prospect beating down the door or if we are seriously concerned about his current cost skyrocketing (not likely to happen until 24-25).

Cedric Mullins is going to be 28-years old next year and has put up 9.5 WAR over the last two years. Needing to trade him is silly. Now, is he untouchable in the right deal, absolutely not, but I'll be perfectly happy going into 2023 with Mullins in CF.

Now if we can get him out of the leadoff spot, that would be ideal.

I'm trying to figure out what the O's have in Mullins... the 2021 version or 2022 version? Or somewhere in between?

I think second half (.261/.321/.433/.754) Mullins is who he is offensively, at least if he's asked to continue to play against left-handers. If they can use him a bit like Al Bumby was used by limiting his starts against tough lefties, I think his offensive numbers will rise.

Because I don’t think he’s a keeper beyond the next year or 2 and I would rather move him vs the prospects to get the pitching we need.

I think we can improve other areas of the team, make the team better overall, save some money (this shouldn’t be needed but I think it is) while also getting max value for Mullins.

Im certainly ok if we keep him but I think he’s an asset that is better used in a trade.

I think SportsGuy just wants to get rid of Mullins before people start digging up posts like this from pre-season 2021.  Derek Fisher (a famous name in Oriole history) was just DFA.

“That’s fine and Mullins can still be on the team.

That being said, Mullins isn’t good and he has very little, if any, upside.

Fisher does.  Btw, UZR and UZR/150 doesn’t hate him as a COer.  Probably not a CFer though.  He’s a big guy, so it’s not all that surprising.

We also have DH at bats too.”

    • Very weak.  OTOH, there's still a possibility that Jackson Merrill won't win in the NL.  Who didn't want Cowser to have had that rookie season?
    • Who’d a thunk it? There’s a chance? Almost like it’s a long season. Now if only that Mayo guy would do something.
    • Jeez, it really was a welcome game tonight.  I had a good buzz going...   Now I have to factor in your chronic angst.  Thanks man.
    • If we enter the Yankees series down by three games, we have a mathematical chance. However, we are going to have to intentionally walk Judge and Soto every single AB. The athletics did us no favors tonight.  Still four games out..
    • I know. I'm a hand wringer and a whiner when it comes to this team. I sometimes annoy myself with all this baseball nonsense. But really deep down,I'm still the 8 year old who lived and died with every Oriole game. Still. Im that kid. So when this team was really horrible like for most of the second half, it almost made me nauseous just to watch them lose in all kinds of ways. Then all those injuries in a wave. I really felt they weren't going to make the postseason at all. But baseball is a crazy game, and a light switch can be turned on in an instant. Maybe that Santander walk off HR on Thursday threw a switch. Because Friday night, this was a different team. They still strike out a lot, and Burnes was brilliant, but I feel maybe something is moving. Seeing Coluombe come in and strike two batters out, and Webb, not as good, but good enough with a big lead...and to see Cowser and McCann blast two, and Tony again with a HR...It got my juices flowing. Look, maybe they wont play well this weekend, maybe they will. And then the dreaded Yankees might break our hearts next week. But why think that way now.?Urias is coming, then Westburg, then maybe Mounty, and even possibly Grayson at the end . If we can somehow put the pieces together and get our mojo back, and have the players contribute, we maybe, just maybe, might have a little ray of hope.I still think this roster is talented when all our pieces are together, and as good as anyone when we are playing well. So, I'm not asking for a miracle. I'm just asking for a chance to see this team with most of the pieces together again, and compete.Maybe it's even a long shot, but I am still that 8 year old living and dying for a chance to see my boys make me proud. And these are my boys.
    • Velocity was 1.5-2mph down across the board. Movement was good, especially the sweeper. The fastballs worry me at that velocity though... not sure he should be immediately high leverage in the way he used to be.
    • Nicely done. Lol. Yes I remember that with Minnesota.
