Orioles sign OF Nomar Mazara

No such thing as a bad milb signing. I like LH power bats and the fact that the shift is going away. AAA/AAAA depth is needed over a long milb season. Why be forced to call up a prospect if an injury happens?  A Jesus Aguilar reunion might be next. 
 

Abreu was obviously too expensive. Maybe Brantley and even a Mancini reunion is the same. So we can roll with what we have for that 1B/DH/COF bat for now and see where we stand at the trade deadline.

Got no issue with taking a chance on this guy.  Dude broke in really young and is younger than you would think.  It takes talent to break in that young, sometimes you have to hit bottom before you are willing to make changes.

As long as I live I'll never understand baseball fans overreacting to MiLB signings, or thinking they're indicative of how the team will approach ML signings. 

You have to staff your AAA team with players too. If they were good players they wouldn't be in AAA, they'd be signing MLB deals. Not everyone on the Norfolk roster is going to be an exciting prospect.

There's some Rougned Odor joke here about the '23 Orioles locking up some former Ranger who made the show super fast.

2016 Rangers got 1200 PA from Age 22 Odor and Age 21 Mazara.     

Together with Diaz-Franchy this does maybe feel like more investment in grizzled AAA MLB depth than we've seen in the past, but who knows if any of these guys get beyond Sarasota.
