I just wish Grayson wasn't on a pitch limit this year. It's frustrating that he only got 75 innings due to the injury last year. Hugely encouraging start to his spring though.

There was a promising quote about how they don't have compelling evidence that the caps reduce injury so maybe they just let him go?

I don't think it will work out that way, but the quote shocked me.

I did see that and also was kind of hopeful about it. I could see them babying him early in the season, but hopefully they just let the kid rip most of the time. We only have so many years with these guys. Sometimes it feels like they're not going to really "arrive" until they're a year or two from FA.

Exciting stuff.

I still think there’s a good chance that G-Rod goes to Norfolk to start the season because there’s some things Elias thinks he “needs to work on a few things,” and makes his debut after a certain date.

Grayson has ROY potential. A full year of Grayson would be a good hedge to solidify our chances of coming away with a pick should Gunnar struggle.

The TEX visit is spring break in my county - I'd toyed with going down.    Ended up booking something else, but I'd considered the Tuesday game the strong favorite.     I believe Cole Irvin will be hidden from Fenway, and TEX familiar for an AL West import.    Veteranosity, I don't think they'd make Irvin wait for Grayson, between the Monday and the Tuesday.

That would also make Turn 2 miss the Yankees series, and lead off the Oakland series on a Monday night at Camden, which feels like a slam dunk Elias "controlling environment" move.

I heard HOU Luis Garcia mentioned this week as a "Glass Half Full" kind of scenario for a Luhnow GM Tree club letting a talented young pitcher go.     Coming off COVID's 2020 blackout, Age 24 Garcia got 155 innings in 2021.

If it came to pass, Oakland on an early April weeknight is about as terrible as the opponent-weather combo gets.    What's the back of the envelope Revenue per Attendee....$30 per person?    If Grayson on Monday made an Oakland gate 17000 not 7000, can he just get some of that extra 300k?

    • Funny thing is, if the O's win, I'm generally so psyched on my way out that I don't even notice all of these annoyances. I'm just happy that the team won. That was my experience a lot this year when the team was doing well. Unfortunately about half of my 13 game season ticket plan was in August and September, plus I got to watch one of the pathetic WC games. You can smooth over a fair bit of fan annoyance with winning, but at the end of the day, someone has to care about the little things and actually invest money to make them better. There's no longer any question about whether the O's will be here to stay. The government and the team are aligned: OPACY and the Orioles are here, and we're going to make the best of what we have, and make it a centerpiece of Baltimore. That's great. But now they have to put their money where their mouths are. Show fans from all walks of life that we are able to reimagine OPACY and the surrounding area in the image of an efficient, clean, 21st century facility, starting with things as basic as infrastructure and plumbing, and ranging as far as parking, public trans, and food at the park. Honestly? I sort-of understood why they weren't investing in anything in the years when (1) the team was bad, and (2) ownership wasn't invested in the team, and (3) the renewal of the lease with the Maryland Stadium Authority was in doubt. The vast majority of points (1), (2) and (3) above are now non-issues, or have been majorly mitigated in the past 2 years. So it's time to make things right. Otherwise why bother with the long-term commitment at all, if you're just going to let the project languish?

    • I still think Soto (Juan, not any of the others) checks off all the boxes here.  Insanely productive, plays hard, can rub opponents the wrong way on the field but is generally liked off of it.
