Is Givens hurt?

I was wondering that myself when I updated the spring training tracker. Has anyone in the media even asked about Givens or discussed him pitching in side games?

He’s been dealing with a Legal issue. He is pitching this week.

I saw this on Twitter (not exactly a real source) last week but there is an open court case with him dating back to some domestic issue with his ex wife. (Dates back to 2019)

I don’t know if this is the exact reason he hasn’t appeared in games yet but this is hanging over him this spring and I’m guessing he was dealing with it earlier in the spring. 
 

It makes sense. He’s not hurt. They just paid him 5M, so it’s not like he’s in danger of getting cut or that they don’t want to see him get work.

It has to be something and this seems like the most logical reason.

Unless he's missing camp time dealing with this old case, I don't see why that would make him not appear in a game. Just seems strange if he's totally healthy why he would not have thrown an inning yet when all other relievers outside of Bautista (who is recovering from injury and will probably start the year on the IL) have thrown multiple innings. 

He's older so maybe they have him on a different plan. Just seems like something I would ask ore report about (assuming I talked to him) about if I were down there in the press.

I agree with everything you are saying here…but it’s the only excuse out there that makes sense unless they haven’t disclosed an injury about him, which wouldn’t make sense either.

I remember on my team stream Hyde had said that he'd be pitching in the middle of this week.  I believe it was Roch that reported it.  I can't find it now because it was Thursday or Friday that it was posted and I can't figure out how to go back that far in my app, but I know I saw it.

I was just going to say Elias was on the Saturday radio broadcast and mentioned Givens' name when asked about who could close games while Bautista is out so I don't think there's an injury.

They blamed it on a sore knee on the broadcast.
