Last night he mentioned that Cardinal pitcher JoJo Romero went to Yavapai College (which apparently is in Prescott, Arizona) and he said "...so JoJo is a man from Prescott Arizona"... a slight but not really correct riff on the Beatles tune "Get Back" ("JoJo was a man who thought he was a loner, but he knew it couldn't last.   JoJo left his home in Tucson Arizona, for some California grass").

I figured 90% of the audience didn't catch it, and of the 10% who did, 7% rolled their eyes, and 3% actually enjoyed it.

I was in the 7%.

I can’t believe that a mediocre announcer has his own thread. And it has 18 pages of posts. I have nothing against Mr Brown. I just don’t think any of the current MASN or Orioles people are anything special. Chuck Thompson, Joe Angel, and John Miller were awesome . The current group that include Brown and Newman are space fillers. I enjoy the color guys that include Palmer, and McDonald.

I like Kevin Brown. Hope he stays with the Orioles for a long time. His pairing with McDonald and/or Palmer is enjoyable.

But I can totally see how some people pine for the nostalgic feeling of listening to baseball announcers from some long-past era when all was good and right with the world and girls still liked them and anything was possible.

I was in the 7%.

I didn’t catch it, but if I had, I would have been in the 3%.  That’s pretty quick.

I'll say it again, and continue to say it. Kevin Brown is the best young TV baseball announcer in the business. He is the best Oriole announcer since Jon Miller and  right there, in my opinion, with Chuck Thompson.You can agree or disagree or not care what I think. I value my opinion of broadcasters having been in the business for 46 years. KB is excellent and getting better too.

You can say it all you want, I still find him to be an annoying try-hard ankle biter.  I can't stand it when there's a late and close game and he's trying to get cute with stories an anecdotes and feigning outrage at what Ben McDonald doesn't know.  And I haven't listened to all the young TV baseball announcers so I don't know how to compare him.

I'll say it again, he's firmly behind Thorne and Proctor as far as TV announcers go but still ahead of Jim Hunter and the awful Michael Reghi.

At this point, everyone has their opinions and I’ve heard them a dozen times.  I like using this thread for specific examples of things that come up in games that I liked or didn’t like, but I’m done arguing about his overall merits.
