Camden Yards could get wild

Os finish off August with a homestand, then go out west again early September. Then come back home again in the 2nd half of September with hopefully the chance to lock up a playoff birth and clinch the division. Realize we are getting ahead of ourselves a little bit, but another month of good baseball and we will be staring down a division title and 1st round bye. And doing this at home. It is going to get absolutely bonkers in there. And I can't wait for it.

I was thinking about going to the last game of the season because it’s the closest to playoffs I’ll be able to afford lol but then again it might be a chance to rest some regulars…

I understand. I love watching Os games too, but I am a lot more invested in games that matter in the standings. If we've already clinched the division before game 162 then my interest does go down for game 162.

I remember going to the final home game of 2012.   The O’s could clinch a.playoff spot if they won and the Angels lost either end of a doubleheader they were playing. The game drew 41,000+ and it was very loud.  The O’s won their game, and while people were still celebrating, they started showing the Angels game on the big screen. It was in the last inning and the Angels were on the verge of losing 4-3.  I’d say 3/4 of the fans didn’t budge from their seats, and many of the players hung around the field watching it, since an Angels loss would clinch at least a wild card spot for the O’s. The Angels scored two in the top of the 9th and held off Texas in the bottom of the 9th, so the O’s didn’t end up clinching in front of that crowd.  But later that day, while the O’s were on a flight to Tampa, the Angels lost the nightcap and the O’s clinched their playoff spot.

I’ll just never forget the sight of 30,000 Orioles fans sitting in their seats watching another team play on TV.  What an exciting September that was.  The O’s drew $40k + six times that month.

I expect something similar this September.

I came up from Asheville for that series. Met Roy Firestone in the lobby of the hotel where I was staying. He was there for the previously postponed unveiling of Brooks Robinson’s  statue . What  a great week that was!

If i can finish what would be my last major consulting project before selling our IP and retiring, I’ll come up for the Ravens home opener and the Cardinals and Tampa series. I have eight good seats along the first baseline for Friday and Saturday against Tampa. I bought the Saturday tickets by mistake. I know if I come up I’ll be at a family gathering for my disabled sister that day, so I will be putting those up for sale. If anyone is interested, PM me.

So fun when that place is full and rocking. Playoff game in 2012 ranks as my top live sports memory.

Agreed.  I was at the Delmon Young Double game. Literally the greatest sports related moment of my life. I've never been to a game where it's gotten as loud as it did that day.

Proby my favorite live sports game I've seen as well.  So many hugs from strangers.  So much joy and happiness.  It was electric.

Blue Jays series looks around 21,000 a game at best unless a big walkup. Rockies a little bit better and August 26th should be a huge crowd for Bautista bobblehead. White Sox series looks below 20,000 a game for now. School starting on that Monday for many school systems in the Baltimore area. St Louis usually draws on the road but weekday games and team is not good. Thursday game against Tampa has many tickets. The weekend ganes with the Rays look decent. Nationals games look low but decent. Red Sox series besides Thursday look good. Saturday game ,lightweight hoodie giveaway could be the best attended game left, depending if the Red Sox are in the WC race and the Red Sox fans buy tickets. We shall see if people buy tickets before the end of the season  to see the Orioles.

I was there with my daughter....we both still talk about that moment as the best we have seen live.

I was living abroad in 2012 and living in Austin, TX in 2014. I moved back to Baltimore in 2016, when the Red Sox blew a pair of October games to Toronto to ensure the wild card game would be there instead of here. The last time (and only time) I attended a playoff game at OPACY was Game 2 of the 1997 ALCS, one of Armando Benitez's many postseason choke jobs. All I want from this season is to experience a home playoff game, to personally see the stadium full and vibrating from noise. I want to see the player introductions on the field that they don't show on TV anymore because it would take time away from Big Papi and A-Rod yukkin' it up in the studio. I want to bring my stadium blanket and wear a jacket because it's an October night. If the O's can give me that, even if they get bounced early, I'll be happy. That means either the division or the first wild card. If they win WC2 or WC3 then they go play a road series and even if they fight hard and come up just short, it doesn't count as a playoff appearance to me if you don't appear at your home stadium, sorry.
