Stick a fork in the Guardians.

They are 5 back of the Twins.  They play them 3 times this week, their last 3 games with them this year.

I'm going to wait until they lose one to the Twins this week before I stick the fork in.   If they could pull off a sweep it would still be a race.

So, on average, he would give up 1.1 runs in an inning, and we are up by 4.

The level of worry around here is amazing.

He's allowed 17 base runners in his last 4 innings.  You're really risking getting the game getting closer and potentially have to take him out and bring in another reliever.

I'm glad he pitched a scoreless inning, all I'm doing is just laying out my reasoning.

The bottom line is if you have someone in your pen, you have to use them.   And a 4 run lead in the 8th is actually about as low a leverage situation as the Orioles tend to get.

Is there some risk that he blows up and gives up 3 runs before you can get him out of there?   Sure.   But that is a risk with ANY pitcher.   It's maybe a little higher with Jorge (you might be talking about 5% with him instead of half a percent with Felix Bautista).   But you can't manage scared of your own shadow fearing the worst case lurking around every corner.
