Those numbers honestly aren’t all that great. But they are vastly superior to Flaherty, who outside of one start with us has been really bad.

I guess you get what you pay for?

Don't add context - that doesn't fit his narrative. Maybe we should have gone all in for Cease -- we could have had his 8+ ERA in August if we were willing to offer up some real prospects at the deadline.

With his mental health issues and family being near him, is there any guarantee he would’ve left?  We could have made an offer and he turned it down.

I believe Eduardo would have refused any trade so that he could stay with his family in DET. There are plenty of guys we could have traded for that look pretty bad in hindsight. I do wish we had gotten a better bullpen arm.

why would we want that when we could have 4 out of 5 bad outings from Flaherty? JK. I wonder what level of prospects Detroit was asking for?

We’ll have Means back in a week. I’d rather have him in our rotation while keeping the prospects we’d have given up in an ER deal.

It had nothing to do with Detroit. He had a no-trade clause and utilized it. They had a deal in place with LA.

It's odd that they latched onto a trade with the Dodgers when he wasn't willing to go there.

My guess is that the Dodgers offer was a lot better than any other offers that might have been on the table.

Or the Tigers screwed up big time.
