John Smoltz is high on Tyler Wells as a starter

Don’t sleep on a guy like Zimmerman. He’s been in the system and these are his prime years. Maybe he gives us #4/#5 level production for a season or two. Development matters. The wall matters.

Zimmerman is this year’s version of Irvin except he’s out of options.

That's great but that doesn't make you a "horse".

I think we are a little toooooooo hung up on the "horse" comment.   Wells has been a strong starter for around 100 innings.   Maybe he gets better.  Maybe that is as good as he gets.   That  level of performance has value.     With him as a starter the O's have 4 and a half good to great starters.   

It's up to Elias to figure out the other part of the 5th starter, 6, 7 and 8.  But at any rate its a nice position to go into the off season.
