Can_of_corn
I can see it. I think the Jays think they need to make some sort of move to shake up what is perceived as an under performing squad.
backwardsk
They would know best if they have a chance to extend him or not. If they believe they can’t, then it makes some sense. The problem is they are trying to compete now. Bichette is not Soto, but he still has two seasons left. Chicago has a deep farm system with six top 100 players in Pipeline. If I was Toronto, I’d set the price steep. Pete Crow-Armstrong, Matt Shaw, and two more top 100. If Crow-Armstrong is off the table, then the price is the other five top 100. If that’s too steep for the Cubs, that’s fine. Go compete the next two seasons with Bichette in his 26-27 age seasons.
btdart20
Swanson had a higher fWAR than Bichette in 2023. Maybe Bo plays 3B? They have a couple of 2B options.
Just Regular
On the ADD side of the ledger, they are among the Passan-reported "Final Four" for Ohtani, and now this tonight. The Blue Jays core overall has disappointed the last couple seasons, but notwithstanding that it seems correct for them to keep pushing for present wins before Bo and Vlad earn FA.
RZNJ
Looking forward to see the whole deal.

It seems like the Padres are viewing him as a 5-6 win player and not as a 5-6 win player who is going to make over 30M. Not a huge amount of surplus value there. Moose Milligan
Looking forward to seeing what cast of characters the Jays underachieve with in 2024. Edited December 4, 2023 by Moose Milligan
