Or the Angels. Like, what are y'all even doing? No wonder Elias is apparently having an impossible time acquiring Cease. Getz's comments on Cease definitely confirm he is trying to hold out and make teams outbid each other, which is fair and all, but at some point you have to be satisfied with your offers or you're going to get nothing. I think this will be the off-season where the high profile move will be more than acquiring an innings eating starter. The number of prospects that are MLB ready almost dictates a couple of trades need to happen unless the goal is for Norfolk to win 100+ games in 2024. oriolediehard
I wouldn't be surprised that every GM won't talk trade with us without Jackson Holiday in the equation. The other GM's think much higher of their trade chips than what they are worth. Cease had a high ERA and he is no where near worth a Jackson Holiday. That is my prediction on why the O's can't get anything done.

And I think Elias is having a hard time shifting attention from Kjerstad and Mayo to Cowser and Ortiz/Westburg. That, and we don't have sexy pitching prospects. But I honestly do think Kjerstad and Mayo are kind of making Mike's life miserable right now.

Sure, but it's tough to even figure out what a fair trade for Holliday looks like. If teams are in fact asking about him, that is a LOT of wasted time. But maybe that's the proper negotiation tactic, I don't know. As silly as the White Sox are, I can't imagine they are beginning their Cease talks with Holliday. I do very much think they are asking for the next most ridiculous thing, which is some combination of prospects that include Mayo, Kjerstad, Basallo, etc. Everyone except who we are okay with trading, basically. At least for Cease, anyway.
