Corbin Burnes (RHP) 
2/21: Will start season as the TOR this team needed, and really needed once Bradish went out.
2/24: Struck out two and allowed a hit in 1 IP in his debut.
2/29: Allowed three ER on three hits and walk and was not able to get through his two innings of work. Did strike out 3. (10.13)
3/10: After a clean first two innings, allowed three runs in the 3rd, and two more in the 4th before being pulled allowed 5 ER on 6 hits and two walks in 3IP. Let's hope he's just still working on things because his spring has not been good so far. (12.71)
3/16: Allowed three ER in 5 IP. (9.28)

Grayson Rodriguez (RHP)
2/21: Should be the 2nd starter behind Burnes and is looking to continue his second half success last year.
2/27: Allowed a home run in the first inning of his two innings of work, walking one and striking out two. He went two-seamer heavy as he's trying to add that pitch into his mix, something Bradish was able to do effectively. He threw 22 of 37 pitches for strikes. Hyde said Rodriguez touched 100 MPH on his fastball a few times.
3/8: Allowed a run in 3.1 innings of work spreading out two walks and six hits, striking out just one. Reached his pitch count in the 4th and was not exactly fooling many hitters. (3.68)
3/14: Made it through 4.1 IP, allowing 2 ER on 4 H and 2 BB. Still is not missing a ton of bats with only 2 Ks. (3.86)

Dean Kremer (RHP)
2/21: Injuries to Bradish and Means solidifies his starter's role even if the Orioles acquire another starter.
2/28: Allowed a run on two hits and walk while striking out two in two IP. His fastball average about 2.2 MPH less than last year at 92.4 MPH so his velocity is not there yet.
3/4: Allowed two ER on four hits and 2 walks but 3 Ks in his 2 IP. (6.75)
3/9: Allowed 2 ER in 4 IP, on 4 hits. (5.63)

Tyler Wells (RHP) 
2/21: Wells is going to make the team regardless but now has a real chance to stick as a starter vs the bullpen role he was destined for before the injuries.
3/1: Made his spring debut starting and tossing two scoreless innings.
3/12: Allowed one run over on two hits, and one walk including a HT, striking out one in 4IP. (1.50)
3/17: Allowed one run on four hit, with 6 Ks in 4 IP. (1.69)

Cole Irvin (LHP)

2/21: Odds on favorite to claim the 5th starter's spot afte the injuries but will still need to start the year better than he did in 2023 when he pitched himself to Norfolk.
2/25: Got the 2nd start of the season against the Pirates major leaguers and went 2 hitless innings, strike out 3. Hit 96 MPH and average 94 MPH on his fastball, 1.8 MPH more than last year so the velocity is there early on.
3/2: Spread out three hits and BB over 3 scoreless IP. (0.00)
3/13: Allowed 6 ER, on 7 hits and 4 BB with 3 Ks in just 3.2 IP. (6.23)
3/22: Named the Orioles rotation as the 5th starter.

Cuts

Bruce Zimmermann (LHP)
2/21: Did not have a great 2023 season overall, but pitched well enough to keep his roster spot and could make the team as a long reliever potentially if he loses out on the 5th starter job.
3/1: Made his spring debut and followed Tyler Wells with two scoreless IP as well.
3/6: Allowed 4 runs, 2 ER on 4 hits and a walk but with 5 Ks in 2.2 IP. (3.86)
3/11: Pitched the 5th-8th inning behind Teheran which shows a bit where the Orioles know he's heading, and that's back to AAA. Allowed one run in 3 IP. (3.51)

3/19: Optioned to Norfolk to get ready for the season.

Chayce McDermott (RHP) (NRI)
2/21: Probably destine for Norfolk's rotation but his impact stuff could help in a bullpen that is weakened by the injuries to the starters so keep an eye on what role he's used in and if he's pitching against major leaguers earlier in games or minor leaguers later.
2/27: Came into the game in the 6th inning against mainly minor leaguers. Wasn't able to get through his inning inning of work before reaching his pitchout count and had to come out. Returned in the 7th to strike out two. Overall, walked two, allowed a hit, and struck out two in 1.2 IP.
3/5: Two impressive innings, allowing two hits, only one hard hit ball, and two Ks in 2 IP. Averaged 95.4 on his fastball and registered 5 pitches on statcast.


3/10: Looked pretty good today, hovering around 95 on his FB and getting quite a few swings-and-misses, albeit mostly against minor leaguers late in the game. Also made a nice play to cover 1B in the 9th while holding a runner at 3rd. (JustD)

Cade Povich (LHP) (NRI)
2/21: Destined to start the year in Norfolk's rotation once again, but it will be interesting to see how the team uses him in spring. Could be an option later in the season if he's pitching well. 
2/26: Spread out two walks and hit over two scoreless innings, getting two Ks in his first start.
3/9: Impressive 3 IP, allowed one unearned run on two hits and walk while striking out 4. (1.29)

Relievers

Craig Kimbrel (RHP)
2/21: Offseason acquisition comes into the season as the closer
2/29: Allowed a run on two hits including a HR in his 1IP. (9.00)
3/4: Crushed for 4 ER on 5 hits in just one innings of work. Not exactly making everyone feel good after he got off to an awful start last season with the Phillies as well. Hopefully just working through things. (22.50)
3/8: Walked one, but gave up not runs or hits in an inning of work. (15.00)
3/14: Allowed one hit with one K in 1 IP. (11.00)
3/16: Allowed a BB, but struck out two in an IP. (9.00)

Cionel Pérez (LHP)
2/21: No options and coming off a very good second half, he's in the bullpen barring injury and should pitch in high leverage situations against tough lefties.
2/26: Never known for getting off to good starts, Perez was knocked around for four earned runs on four hits, including a home run in one inning of work.
2/29: A hitless IP of work. (18.00)
3/4: Allowed a run on 2 hits with 2 Ks. (15.00)
3/8: His tough spring continues as he allowed two more ER on 3 hits, including a home run, and a walk with striking out one in 2/3 of inning of work. (17.18)

Yennier Cano (RHP)
2/21: Amazing the difference in year makes. Came into camp last year as an after thought and ended up an All-Star. Will be the main setup guy to Kimbrel.
3/4: Hey, a Cano sighting. Pitched a scoreless inning giving up a hit with 1 K. (0.00)
3/8: Struck out two in a perfect inning of work. Has yet to give up a run this spring. (0.00)
3/12: Pitched a perfect inning with 2 Ks. (0.00)

Danny Coulombe (LHP)
2/21: Found a home in the Orioles bullpen and will be there once again barring a disaster.
2/26: Pitched a scoreless inning.

Mike Baumann (RHP)
2/21: With no options remaining and with the injuries, Baumann has to be a lock to start the year in the pen on opening day this year.
2/24: Tossed a perfect 1 IP in his debut, striking out one.
2/27: Tossed another perfect inning with one K.
3/6: Tossed another scoreless inning with one K. (0.00)
3/11: Tossed 1.2 scoreless inning and his stuff was swing and miss getting a 60% whiff rate on swings against him. Averaged 97.3 on his fastball. Baumann may be working his way into high leverage situations with the stuff he's showing this spring. He walked one and struck out two in his another scoreless outing. (0.00)

Jacob Webb (RHP)
2/21: Some may not see him as a lock, but with no options and great numbers last year with the Orioles, he's starting the year in the pen barring a total implosion of stuff.
2/26: Pitched a scoreless 3rd inning.
2/29: Allowed two runs on 3 hits and a BB against minor leaguers late in the game. (9.00)
3/4: Allowed a hit with one K in one IP but keeps getting in late against minor leaguers. (6.00)
3/8: Gave up just one hits and struck out two in a scoreless frame. (4.50)
3/12: Allowed 2ER in 1 IP. (7.20)

Dillon Tate (RHP)
2/21: Most people see him as a lock, but he hasn't pitched well since 2022, is coming off an injury, and has two options so he's going to have to pitch well to make the team.
2/27: Made his spring debut with a three up and three down 3rd inning including one K.
3/2: Another hitless inning with 1 K. (0.00). 
3/6: Scoreless inning with a K. (0.00)
3/10: Allowed a hit in 1 IP. (0.00)

Keegan Akin (LHP) 
2/21: Got a big boost with the slow recovery of Means which probably moves Irvin to the rotation and opens up a spot for Akin if he throws well.
2/25: Got three outs on four pitches in his 1IP. Sat 93 MPH.
2/29: Walked one, struck out two in 1 IP. (0.00)
3/4: Struck out two in 2 scoreless innings pitched in the 7th and 8th inning against minor leaguers. (0.00)
3/9: Still unscored upon this spring. Allowed a hit and struck out one in one IP. (0.00)

Bryan Baker (RHP)
2/21: Definitely on the bubble but with an option, he could head to Norfolk if there is no space
2/25: Got some loud outs, but took only 8 pitches to get through his inning of work. Sat 95 MPH on fastball.
2/28: Wasn't able to get through one inning of work after reaching his 25-pitch count. Did strike out two and allowed on hit.
3/8: Walked two, but struck 3 in 1.1 IP at the end of the game against minor leaguers. Hasn't given up a run all spring. (0.00)
3/13: Allowed an unearned run in an IP. (0.00)
3/17: Another shutout IP. (0.00)

Julio Teheran (RHP)
2/27: Signed to a minor league contract that could be worth up to $2 million, the former Braves ace will get an opportunity to be long man depth or maybe even starter's depth depending on how the Orioles try to use him. Added a cutter last year with the Brewers after being out of the majors since 2021 and it was fairly successful, so look for him to rely on that over his sinker that has not been good since 2019.
3/2: Made his spring debut in the 4th inning, striking out one in one hitless IP.
3/6: Started going two innings allowing just a walk. (0.00)
3/11: Struggled in the first inning getting lit up for 4 ER by the Yankees starting lineup. Settles down afterwards and made it through 2.1 innings and 52 pitches. Seems the Orioles are stretching him out to be a starter vs looking at him as a reliever. (6.75)
3/17: Allowed one run on five hits and 1 BB, while striking out 5 in 4 IP. (4.82)
3/23: Allowed just one hit and two walk with 3K over 4 shutout innings in his last spring appearance. Probably will be sent to AAA as starter depth.

Long Shots
Jonathan Heasley (RHP)
2/21: With option remaining he's heading to Norfolk or perhaps will get a look in a bullpen role, but mostly Norfolk's rotation for depth.
2/23: Couldn't get through his 1 inning of work in his debut, getting behind most hitters. Allowed 2 ER on 3 hits in 2/3 of an inning.
2/28: Better in his second out, allowing no hits, but did walk one in 1.1 scoreless. (9.00)
3/6: Tossed a scoreless 9th inning against minor leaguers. (4.50)
3/10: Allowed a run in 2 IP. (4.50)
3/14: Tossed a shutout inning. (3.86)

Cuts

Albert Suárez (RHP)
2/28: Pitched two hitless/scoreless innings with 2 Ks in the 5th and 6th inning. Touched 97.3 MPH and averaged 95.5 MPH on his fastball 2 MPH faster than last year. Threw his slider 5 MPH faster than last year as well. Worth keeping an eye on if the increase is velocity is for real.
3/5: Did the Orioles just find a real pitcher? I'm moving him up from here to get a look to longshot because he's not on the 40-man and the Orioles can keep him in AAA as potential starting pitching or reliever depth. I'll let Alex Fast tell you why:

3/10: Got hit hard in his first inning of work allowing three runs, including a two-run home run by Kirk that would not have been a HR in any major league ball park. Then tossed three shutout innings. Struck out 4 over his 4 IP.

3/15: Got lit up for 5 ER on 6 H and a walk over 2.1 IP. (6.35)
3/21: Had a good camp overall, but will be starter's depth in AAA.

Nick Vespi (LHP)
2/21: Probably more of a long shot since he has options and Akin is probably ahead of him on the left-handed pecking order, but he'll battle in camp for a roster spot.
2/27: Allowed a run on two hits in the 5th inning, striking out one.
3/2: Struck out one in one hitless IP in the 6th.
3/6: Tossed a scoreless 8th inning. (2.25)
3/9: Allowed a run on 1IP. (3.60)
3/14: Struck out 5 and allowed only one hit over two IP. (2.57)
3/20: Bad outing yesterday sealed his fate. Optioned to AAA. (5.40)

Matt Krook (LHP)
2/21: Similar to Vespi, but his swing and miss numbers on his junk are impressive in AAA.
2/26: Made a nice debut, striking out the side while allowing a hit in one inning of work in the 5th inning.
3/1: Allowed his first run of the spring on a walk and a hit in one inning of work. (4.50)
3/5: Throwing a bit harder than last year, averaging 90 MPH on his sinker and it appears he's added some movement on his changeup. Seems similir to TJ MacFarland. Didn't allow a hit in his 1 IP. (3.00)
3/16: Struck out the side, walking one in 1 IP. Pitched well but was reassigned to minor league camp. (2.25)

Kaleb Ort (RHP)
2/21: Newly acquired with major league experience, Ort has an option but the Orioles like the raw stuff so could surprise.
2/26: Pitched a hitless/scoreless 4th inning of work, striking out one.
3/1: Allowed a walk and hit, but gave up no runs in his 1 IP. 
3/6: Hit 98.5 MPH, but gave up two loud hits and allowed a run in his only inning of work. Did strike out two. (3.00)
3/9: Allowed two ER on a hit and walk before being taken out after .2 IP. (7.36)
3/14: Reassigned to minor league camp. (6.23)

Seth Johnson (RHP)
2/21: Nice arm who has not pitched a lot and is getting up in years for a prospect. The Orioles may give him a look in a relief role and move him quick, but other wise he's heading to Bowie to start.
3/9: Optioned to minor league camp and should start the year at Bowie. Pitched two innings of shutout ball this spring so made a nice impression.

Justin Armbruester (RHP)
2/26: Made a nice debut tossing three scoreless frames allowing just one hit while striking out 4 against mostly minor leaguers.
3/9: Sent to minor league camp. Will start at AAA as starter's depth but also could be brought up to cover bulk innings if needed.

Ronald Guzmán (LHP)
3/9: Sent to the minor league camp. Reported late due to Visa issues and never got into a game. He's a 1B convert so will get an opportunity somewhere.

Nathan Webb (RHP)
3/9: Sent to the minor league camp. Was unable to pitch in a game as he recovers from TJ surgery.
 
Garrett Stallings (RHP)
2/24: Scattered two hits and walk over three scoreless innings of work on opening day. Interesting that they used him for three innings. Didn't strikeout anyone though.
3/9: Sent to minor league camp. Pitched well in his one outing so if he can pitch more consistent in AAA he could get a call.

Wandisson Charles (RHP)
2/25: Hard thrower who touched 99 MPH on his fastball, also showed off a cutter that kinda resembles a bad slider. Got good WHIF (75%) on the four sliders batter swung at. Allowed and hit and walk with one K against minor leaguers.
2/28: Walked one and struck out one in 1 scoreless IP.
3/2: Another Charles inning. One hit, one walk, one K in a scoreless IP. (0.00)
3/9: Pitched the 9th, walking one, striking out one in a scoreless IP. (0.00)

Tucker Davidson (LHP)
2/25: Gave up a hit and walk and needed 21 pitches to get through the inning, but did so without allowing a run. Showed a fastball, slider, split-change mix. Sat 90-92, t93 in the outing.
2/29: Pitched the last two innings against minor leagues allowing a run on two hits. Struck out 2. (3.00)
3/5: Was working on his slider mostly in his scoreless inning of work.

Luis González (LHP)
2/25: Pretty high spin rate guy who got a lot of whif (46%) on his fastball (93 avg) and slider, but needed 21 pitches to get through his inning vs mostly minor leaguers.
2/28: Allowed a run on two hits, striking out 1 in 1 IP.
3/2: Allowed two hits in 1 scoreless IP in the 7th. (3.00)

2/24: Roch from MASN reports that Holliday has been seen working on the back fields almost exclusively at 2B and that all the guest infield instructors have raved about him.
2/24: Went 0-for-2 with a K and flyball out to CF on opening day with the start at 2B.
2/26: Went 0-for-2 with a BB and two K's. Has yet to record a hit this spring in two games. Started at 2B.

2/21: Most players coming off his AAA season would have a major league job, but Norby will need an injury to make it. Could also get looks in outfield. 
2/26: Soreness in his left side has kept him out of games so far. The Orioles are erring on the side of caution for now.
3/5: Went 0-for-2 in a start at 2B. (.333/1.167)

2/26 - Started at 3B, going 2-for-2 with a walk. Batting .750 with a 1.857 OPS thru 3 games. He has reached base in 7 of 9 plate appearances so far.
2/28 - Smacked a 109.9 MPH double in a 1-for-3 effort. (.556)

2/26: Started at DH again which makes you wonder whether he's 100%, going 0-for-3 with two Ks.
2/27: DFA'd and claimed by the Rockies.

Injured List
Felix Bautista (RHP) - Closer will miss the 2024 season after TJ surgery last October.
Kyle Bradish (RHP) -  UCL sprain in January offseason work. Got PRP injections that will take 4-6 weeks for recovery then ramp up. Could be out until May/June or need TJ Surgery. Will start year on IL.
2/27: Was throwing at 90 feet today
John Means (LHP) - Slow recovery after being shut down last Fall, Will start year on IL. They say he's a "month behind".

There was no broadcast of today's O's/Rays game, but I looked at the box score and I see that Armbruester pitched 3 scoreless innings today, with 4 strikeouts and only 1 hit allowed.
