I agree. And I think he has a higher upside than Kjerstad because he's actually a very good fielder. He's a guy that I think deserves regular playing time.

If Elias could somehow magically combine Stowers and Kjerstad into one player, then the O's would really have something.  I think Kjerstad has a special bat, but his defense anywhere leaves a lot to be desired.  I don't know if Stowers can keep his Ks low enough to be an everyday player, but the O's should find out before Santander hits free agency.

Is Kjerstad really that bad of a fielder? I don't see anything that tells me he can't play league average defence at a corner spot, but as always, asking genuinely because I don't know as much as most.

I know, it’s probably getting old just like me. But I will go ahead and say it again. Kyle Stowers is a Dude. The guy can play. I just wish they would give him some more rope.

Why is this kid rotting away on the bench?  He's batting .500 over the last 3 games he played.  Both Mullins and Santander have a combined 4, yes 4 hits over the past week.

Point being ---- giving Stowers more playing time will not cost us games.  If we want to win the AL East, some changes are going to be necessary.

And those last three games were May 25, 27 and 28.   We didn’t play on the 30th.  So how is that “rotting away on the bench?”  He started 3 of 5 games in that stretch.  He must rot very easily.

He had what 18 AB's over the past month - Yes, he was rotting away on the bench.   Then he finally gets playing time and does well.  Goes back to the bench on the 29th.... who knows when we will see him again.

He was recalled on May 13.  He started on May 17, 21, 25, 27, 28.  He went in late on May 15, 18, 22-24.

So your complaint is that he didn’t play in their last game.   By the way, he hadn’t been on the team for a month, he’s been there for two weeks.  Didn’t play much the first week, played a good bit the second week.  Seems an odd time to be complaining about this.  

Incidentally, have you considered upgrading your screen name?  .600_OR_BETTER, at least!

On most nights I would play:

Stowers LF

Cowser CF

Santander RF

Mullins defensive/ baserunning sub depending on where they are in the lineup.

Subject to change depending on Cowser CF defense.

I’m not saying these are perfect and that there’s not some serious risk that Hays and Mullins will continue to suck at he the plate.  But the analysis is more complicated than just looking at the current stat lines or watching a slumping player on TV and concluding he sucks.
