During tonights game there was a lot of complaining about our hitting in the game thread, and my first reaction was to generally agree with that sentiment. But then I remembered that we were leading (or close to it) the league in offense, so I almost posted that hitting was tough for all teams. I just saw this article and generally agree that hitting at the MLB level nowadays is probably as difficult as it has ever been.

Playing devil's advocate a bit here: the hitters today have way more resources available than ever before...pitching machines that replicate pitch shapes, virtual reality simulators, HD cameras that capture the pitcher's motion millisecond by millisecond, and super advanced scouting.
