Tonight's game - any chance it's NOT rained out?

I've got 2 tickets for my daughter and I tonight and I'm on the Eastern Shore. It sure looks like a rainout to me and I'm torn on what do to.  We went over 2 weeks ago on a Tuesday night (Toronto series) and even though the rain stopped, the game was cancelled about 5:30ish - just as we pulled into the parking lot!!  So I really don't want to do that again.  But it is what it is.....

Any chance they play tonight? And also, if I called would they let me exchange at this point?

Looks like the rain is projected to stop between 7pm and 8pm tonight. I'd predict the game gets played, but the start time will be delayed (yet again).

Yeah, I didn't explain it well in the OP, but I thought the EXACT same thing 2 weeks ago. And the rain actually stopped BEFORE game time and they still cancelled an hour before first pitch. I was shocked they did that. And today looks like heavier rain than that day.

I’m going to use this opportunity to voice my conplaint about how the Orioles communicate with the fans during rain delays.   They should have a place on the website that gives a best estimate of the minimum length of the expected delay and is updated at least once every 30 minutes.  The May 18 game was delayed 3 hours for anticipated rain and then light intermittent rain that didn’t stop kids from playing on the playground equipment.   Not once did we get any information about how long the delay might take.  I realize they don’t always know how long, but they probably do at least know a minimum amount of time, and they should let fans know so that they can make an informed decision about whether they want to wait it out.  They can put in whatever caveats they want about uncertainty, the situation may change, etc., but tell us what you know.

Alright, after some more digging, I think I'm going to go for it unless the forecast worsens. Once the rain passes, hopefully we'll get the slightly cooler, pleasant night game I was hoping for 2 weeks ago!

So of course now that I'm going, it'll probably hail golf balls and they'll wait 3 hours to postpone! 😂

Good luck!

I do believe the Toronto cancellation Tuesday 5.14 was helped in part by the Orioles losing a game all the A relievers pitched the night before.

On the other hand it is Burnes pitching a consecutive Game 3 on a run of minimum 4 days rest...

At least with a delay, I could've had my beer and hot dog!

On 5/14, the game was cancelled about 5:30ish for a 6:35 start. I was listening to 98Rock all the way in - hoping for any kind of update. They mentioned the rain (which was just a moderate drizzle) before the game and a possible delay. We pulled into the parking lot (rain had stopped at this point) and noticed people walking the other direction back INTO the parking lot, literally as 98 Rock was reading the starting lineups. We checked MLB and it had updated the game as "postponed". Then, a minute or 3 later, 98 Rock caught up and announced it was postponed.

I guess they were anticipating the rain to come back hours later?

I definitely agree, if they are going to potentially cancel games an hour before or 3 hours after, there has to be a better way of communicating.

I 100% agree. Multiple times where they could have made a call beforehand this year. I understand weather can be unpredictable.

    • This is a direct quote I copy and pasted from your first post in that thread.   And you’re saying you never said this?  “But I sense we are starting to fade”?   “And that team still didn't win anything.  The playoffs are a different animal.  Right now we are a good team playing above our water line.  But I sense we are starting to fade and again....that is ok.  It is great experience for the coming years. “
    • I don't think it is really the past 5 games.  It is the next 4 months, potential playoffs, and all of next year that has people concerned.  Remember these elbows aren't just taking guys out this year, but most of next year as well. And Burnes probably won't be around next either.
    • It is just a real shame that the Os are going through all of these elbows.  Take away all of the elbows going back to last year with Felix and I would say the Os are a lock to get to the WS and would have a great chance to win it all. I haven't seen this many injuries from a teams top guys in such a short amount of time in maybe.....forever. I am starting to wonder if it is something the Os are doing as far as their training.   Trying to obtain too much spin, revs, and velocity. I am a big Colts fan and for years we have complained about all of the knee blowouts and hammy injuries they get when playing at home.  Finally the Colts realized that it might be turf related from their home field and replaced it this past spring.
    • I've been a fan for a long time too but mostly remember a lot of near misses, not tailspin collapses. 2005 comes to mind (Raffygate, Sammy Sosa, Lee Mazzilli, et al.)... what other seasons are you thinking of, to create scar tissue?
    • I really like Kremer.  Seems like a good guy and a solid arm. But he is not going to be the guy to get you into the playoffs and he especially won't be a guy between a make or break WS championship.
    • We can hope he’s back to being his #5 self, but he’ll now be a #3, and let’s all x the fingers
    • The 5 game losing streak is a 5 game losing streak.  I am not too concerned about that unless it turns into something bigger. Every team goes through it.  What I am concerned about is losing 3 starters and 2 great relievers since last August with not a lot to replace them other than Burnes.  And they won't even back for most of next year...if at all. Add in the fact that Burnes is more than likely leaving after this year?  Our cupboard pitching wise is pretty bare as it looks right now. So imo you absolutely need to trade some of your AA and AAA players to get pitching help now and for next year.  This team is too good to waste years on players like GH and AR.
