I was on the fence about signing him but your support for him has convinced me.  I'm a hard no!

Roy asked in the OP, "Would the Orioles consider Bauer?" Sorry, but I don't find that inconguent with any of his past posts. And, given the state of Orioles pitching, IMO it's a valid question again but one I still feel strongly has a resonding NO as an answer.

It's only 6:05 but I think I have the winner for least surprising thing I'll see all day.

Good Good, a golfing channel consisting 6 guys on youtube who have become so big that they have their own golf tournaments broadcast on NBC and who are on commercials for various golfing products, did a video with TB and allowed their name to be put on the title of a video TB made.  Not to mention 3 of them are devout Christians and DO NOT ALLOW swearing on their videos.

Yet somehow, someway, and for some reason......they did a video with Bauer.   If they can do a video with him, you are telling me a major league baseball team with grown men can't?    Watch him in this video.  He comes across as just a normal guy.  Not some women mongering psychopath.   Not to mention........THAT GIRL MADE THE ENTIRE THING UP.   How do you not understand this?

I have personally been accused by a woman of domestic violence when I wasn't even within 10 miles of her.  Why did she do it?  Because I broke up with her and she was pissed off.   Not all women are virtuous little bunnies that never lie.   Just like not all men are noble white knights.   Believe it or not there are lots of bad people out there that do bad things.   I am not saying Bauer is an exemplary human being.  But everything I have seen or heard about the guy doesn't make him worse that any other player.

And the Os NEED pitching help.  Badly.

I wouldn't say she made the entire thing up.  She sent some texts that are questionable.  She got choked out by Bauer.  We know that.

I'm tired of everyone acting like regular old people are out there having this wild sex life where choking and porn star stuff is normal.  Y'all know y'all aint living like that.  And guess what... that's normal.

So it doesn't make you less of an accomplished stud to say that Bauer might not be legally "guilty", but he is far from "innocent".  That's where MLB is at with this.

She literally video'd herself in his bed that morning with no marks on her whatsoever, and texted her friend that she was going to get $$$ from Bauer.

Not to mention, I am not into the whole weird sex stuff?  But lots of people are.   Including lots of major league baseball players I am sure.  As long as 2 consenting adults agree?  They can do whatever they want behind closed doors as long as it doesn't hurt anyone or anything.

You just described at least half of all pro athletes.

There’s a difference between confidence, self-belief, and being an a-hole.   Most of the baseball players I’ve seen don’t remind me of Trevor Bauer.   Just my opinion.  Bauer is a creepy self-promoter.   Some people admire or are attracted to that.

Bauer might be totally innocent.  Which begs the questions.

1. Is MLB just using this against him because they don’t like him?

2. Why did the arbitrator not totally absolve him?

3. Why isn’t the players union fighting harder for him?

Most women are telling the truth.  But there are women who lie about this sort of thing and 2 of the women accusing Bauer have been shown to be lying.  I haven't followed the other cases against Bauer so I won't comment on those.  But it is true that the court of public opinion can lead to a company cutting ties with someone, even if their innocent to avoid flak (For the record I'm not saying Bauer is fully innocent, I haven't looked into the other charges).   Bauer is fortunate that he is well off and set for life, as the average joe doesn't have this luxury.

In any case, I think Bauer should have been more careful about the type of women he had relations with.  He really should also see a psychologist/psychiatrist.

Anyway, in regards to him ending up on a MLB club, I personally don't think any team picks him up.  But if Elias decides to, I'll defer to his judgment.

I agree that baseball players as a whole tend to be pretty good guys.   Hockey is another sport that has similar.  But there are still lots of idiots mixed in.   Arrogant A holes.   As I said Bauer is not an exemplary guy imo.  But if you watch his videos, yes he is cocky and somewhat conceited, but I don't see some weirdo.   I don't see him have major mental issues.  Watch the Hustler Casino Live poker stream that was on Saturday night that had guys like the boxer Ryan Garcia and bball player Jimmy Butler playing.   Those guys seemed strange to me and not people I would want to be around.

Again, at this point, if I am the Os and considering where they are pitching wise, there is a chance to get an elite arm for cheap.  Might not work out.  But I can promise you he is going to probably be better than guys like Tate and 3 or 4 of our other relievers.

    • Good point, no other metropolitan area has more than one team.
    • Could it be that they allowed the Gnats to reside within 30 minutes of their home. Effectively cutting their market in half?
    • Got my all-time low rarity score on today's game - 6.
    • 41 freaking years and here's this guy with the name pickles telling me I should be happy with 91 wins and getting owned in the playoffs again. 😂 😂 I saw a team that looked terrible the second half and probably didn't even deserve that spot the way they were playing .
    • Lol. Here's the funny they know more then you know. Typical Oriole fan who's happy with getting punched in the mouth.
    • I don’t like the wall. I think it’s affecting our hitters. I’ve mentioned before that I think it has totally warped Mountcastle into something he was never really meant to be. The guy came up as a pull-heavy HR hitter, and in his first season-plus (725 PAs), he puts up 38 HRs and a 116 wRC+. Since then, the wRC+ is down to 110, and his approach has totally changed, with his pull numbers plummeting (down from 39% in 2021 to less than 28% this year). He still hits the ball hard, but constantly underachieves his batted ball data — probably because he’s trying to avoid the pull field and hitting balls to the deepest parts of pretty much every other park. Will the same thing happen to Mayo? Maybe he has more pure power, but it’s always going to be a challenge for a RH slugger to survive with that wall. So much harder to do damage.   Beyond that, I think it’s also creating a serious risk of changing our LH hitters’ approaches too. These guys (Henderson, Holliday, Cowser, 2/3 of Adley) have come up with a reputation for being able to drive the ball to all fields. But how long does that continue when they just can’t hit it out to the opposite field? Our LH hitters had a combined 44 wRC+ at OPACY, and only one HR. They had the 3rd most balls hit to LF at home by LHHs, but the lowest wRC+ of any team on those balls (for the second straight year). The Royals, ironically enough, were the only team that was lower than a 70 wRC+ — that’s how much worse our lefties fared going oppo (at OPACY) than everyone else’s. By player: Gunnar Henderson: 112 wRC+ / .160 ISO (51 PAs) Adley Rutschman: 10 wRC+ / .026 ISO (38 PAs) Anthony Santander: 14 wRC+ / .095 ISO (43 PAs) Colton Cowser: 58 wRC+ / .057 ISO (36 PAs) Ryan O’Hearn: 47 wRC+ / .091 ISO (55 PAs) Cedric Mullins: 23 wRC+ / .100 ISO (41 PAs) Jackson Holliday: -72 wRC+ / .000 ISO (16 PAs)   On the road, they had a combined 126 wRC+ (with 9 HRs) going to left field, so it’s not like they’re bad at it. It’s just Death Valley out there in LF for them at OPACY.  How long will it be until these LH guys just start going full pull-happy? Essentially, the opposite of what’s happened with Mountcastle. When (a) your team’s philosophy is to focus on doing damage and (b) you can’t DO damage to the opposite field — the rational endpoint is just to try to pull everything. I don’t think that’s a good outcome. I think it makes them much worse hitters in the other 81 games, and I think it’s a terrible waste of a bunch of really talented hitters with all-field abilities.
