James McCann is a badass

Are you kidding me? 

Hit in the face with a 95 mph fastball, bleeding profusely with a likely broken nose, goes and puts on a clean jersey and takes his base to the end the inning. And he is continuing to catch the first game of the double-header. WOW. 

I have talked my share of smack on McCann for his lack of hitting, but I just found some new respect for the guy.

You want to know why the O’s haven’t looked to upgrade their backup catcher?   Stuff like that is why.

Unbelievable, love it. I've been defending mccann recently in my friend group chats, as I like having the vet, and even they are now like okay he is awesome

I have never seen so much blood on a baseball field. I honestly cannot believe he is still catching. What a wild moment.

Ben: We know how sensitive the nose is, we've all been...most of us have been punched in the nose sometime.

I literally thought his face was swelling, wondering if he broke a cheek bone as well. Pretty unbelievable.

Not a similar in-game injury, but I wonder what hurt the most, a fastball to the face or a foul tip to the jewels (hello Caleb Joseph) ...

I've had both, but the fastball was an errant warm up throw and it was nowhere near 95 mph. Come to think of it, I've had a foul tip to the mouth. I was catching once in a neighborhood game with no mask and split a lip that required stitches. I still have the scar. 

So I'll go with the foul tip hurting the most.
