Because we are 0-3 and 0-2 in the playoffs the past two years. Nothing that happens this offseason really matters. Ultimately, we have our core players. They need to play better, and they need to play well in October.
Do you think the names being tossed around are really going to make a difference in our '25 season?
We made our commitment to Holliday, Mayo and Bassallo being key pieces to our future at this past deadline. They were the guy who could have been part of a deal to get a proven impact major league player. If they don't turn out to be good mlb players, we are going to hit a wall similar to the White Sox of a couple years ago.
Sure, if they can get a pitching upgrade then the depth isn't as big of a concern. I would be fine with trading Povich as part of a Crochet package. However, I would prefer to lead with positional guys if possible.
It's hard to know what he's doing when he's making presnap calls when we're watching film, but they sure are working, and this report from the sideline view certainly validates that.
He checks a lot of boxes.

It's not a bad alternative if we lose Burnes. Gotta love the 2 year commitment. I was looking at Snell, and thought Ray would be a pretty fair deal. From our perspective, it would be resource allocation. We don't pay Burnes that $40 million per year or whatever crazy figure he'll get. We take some risk, but we get a TOR LH SP potentially, and we have Mayo that we have to ride with eventually. He doesn't have anything in AAA to prove. Plus, Basallo looms.
I can see Yes from both side, or No.
Interesting thought. He hasn't done anything in 2 years and is expensive.
They'd have to pay most of Ray's salary to make that work for us and he'd have to be healthy.
Worth noting that Hyde got into it with Robbie Ray while he was in Toronto.
