I find it hard to say either is inferior. They're designed differently, is all. I've had my primary Gerber for almost 18 years now, and not babied it, either. Like I said, I prefer having one hand access to the pliers.

For what I needed it for, the Leatherman was the superior product. Hardly anyone used a Gerber in the field.

Can you quantify "the field" for me? Because at the theatre I worked at, it was 90% Gerber and one Leatherman. And the Leatherman guy never really moved beyond the workshop. When I was in the event world, it was like a free-for-all. LMs, Gerbers, Bucks, Craftsman, I even saw one that was a giveaway that nobody could place. I'm just curious because on a very boring day a bunch of us techs got in to a multi-tool discussion and we figured Leatherman had the edge as it was almost brand associated, like Kleenex. Hell, even *I* referred to my Gerber as a Leatherman on occasion, instead of as a multi-tool.
