Is it too soon to be asking the question, "how long will they keep Harvey in Delmarva?" Bundy, you will recall, had 8 starts there, but the first couple were only 3 innings each and he only threw 30 innings in those 8 starts. Harvey's thrown 17 innings already, and though he hasn't been quite as dominant as Bundy was, he's been pretty damned dominant. I'd say he'll get at least 8 starts in Delmarva (which will get him to 45 innings or so), and if he is still dominating about the way he is now, they will start thinking of moving him to Frederick. Unlike Bundy, though, I don't think Harvey will see AA this year.

Reminder on Bundy at Delmarva: 30 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 40 K's. Harvey so far: 17 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 18 K's.

Wow, that does give some perspective.

Love the attitude.

CJ Wittman from Baseball Prospectus had high praise for Harvey:

Orioles prospect right-hander Hunter Harvey struck out seven while throwing six shutout innings for Low-A Delmarva on Wednesday night.

Harvey allowed one hit and one walk, but hit two batters, throwing 60 of his 103 pitches for strikes as he locked horns with fellow elite pitching prospect Lucas Giolito. He has allowed three runs, eight hits, and four walks while striking out 18 and hitting three batters in 17 innings. Harvey's fastball sat 92-94, his curve ball was 78-81 with a hard downward snap, and his change-up was at 85 with downward sink. If Harvey is available in your deep keeper league, you may want to consider picking him up as he has the potential to be a perennial Cy Young candidate. Apr 17 - 10:05 AM

Biggg time praise. Absolutely LOVING that we got this kid where we did. Gausman, Bundy, Harvey, and Rodriguez is a fantastic stable of arms, it would be tiresome to get into another discussion of the current crop vs. the cavalry but let's just say I think we're doing alright on that front. :)

Certainly you can see why DD would see giving up a first-rounder as a viable decision considering this pick (I see how this could be turned around on me, but I think you all will know what I'm trying to say: we're ahead of the game with getting Harvey at 22).

    • Didn't see today's game in it's entirety but I will say this.  I feel 100% more confident with Mateo playing second and turning  a DP rather than JH right now.  JH will be fine there.  In time.   But even forgetting his hitting, D wise he just isn't there yet.   And yes I know the metrics say he is fine.  But to me, using the eye test, he looked very shaky fielding and throwing,
    • I like Kevin.  He is constantly improving.  My only beef is that he doesn't seem to understand that a foul ball isn't always out of play.   A ball can be hit foul, but still be in the field of play.
    • My preferred day 3 WR would have been Troy Franklin, but he apparently had a bad combine on positional drills (which might have been because he had the flu.)  And he got picked by Denver pretty early.   Devontez Walker is kind of intriguing.  He's 6'2", barely.   A bit on the skinny side but ran in the mid-4.3s.  His route tree is pretty limited, mostly short quickouts/slants and go/post routes. But he's really good at the deep routes.  Sort of a discount DK.  He's reported to have good hands and good deep ball tracking ability as well.  We have to see how that translates in the pro game.
    • Adley looks way more energized and McCann is veteran catcher who is good defensively and handles the pitchers well.  Doesn't really make sense to wear Adley out when the O's are using him at the top of the lineup.
    • Just seems like a more controlled swing from the right side, shorter, flatter.
    • He was signed in the Covid year when they only had a 5 round draft, which is why he was undrafted.  Was showing promise bur tore his UCL in 2022.  Pitched a little last year, this is his first full year back.  Nice to see the good outing.
    • What's up with Brandon Young? Out of nowhere (#30 prospect above... undrafted?) he goes 3 IP with 0 hits or walks, and 7 Ks, throwing an otherworldly 26 of 31 pitches for strikes, in Bowie's game today.
