Nothing unrealistic about the current system. The only reason folks are saying anything is that they are rooting for a playoff team with a gassed pitching staff.
If the O's were 20 games out would this thread exist?
This is on Elias and Hyde for not compensating for this stretch.
Isn't the real problem the fact that Hyde is only having them face three batter each? We need guys who can get anyone out and last more than 3 freakin' batters. The O's are tired and the relievers are not just mostly ineffective, but I think they are also losing confidence. I agree with the poster(s) who believe we won't go far into the playoffs. I just don't think we have the quality arms to get us through tough, high leverage situations in a playoff atmosphere.
The player association doesn't want another owner doing everything on the cheap. They would rather have another White Sox/Angels team with a bloated payroll and mediocre record than another Tampa type team.
