Caleb Joseph is walked on 5 pitches. Schoop watches 1 pitch...and then instantly goes into hack mode.

Joseph might have the best eye on team.

Failure rate of a number nine hitter? 78% Any number nine hitter.

That's because they aren't very good. But you should still be able to ask a hitter on your team, regardless of where he hits in the lineup, not to swing at a breaking pitch a foot outside with the bases loaded when the pitcher has thrown 5 straight balls.

Including pitchers?

If you include pitchers, it's probably a bit higher. Schoop watched the first pitch.

We need an actual 2B who can swing the bat something awful. I am optimistic for Schoop long-term but his approach needs MAJOR refinement. He's very young and shouldn't be starting for a team with playoff aspirations.

Agree. And him looking up to Jones and Cruz and Presley's "swing at anything" school of hitting is NOT going to help him AT ALL in development.
