Here's where the Yankees project now:

1. Brett Gardner - LF

2. Martin Prado - 2B

3. Jacoby Ellsbury - CF

4. Brian McCann - C

5. Carlos Beltran - RF

6. Mark Teixeira - 1B

7. Alex Rodriguez - 3B

8. Chris Young - DH

9. Didi Gregorius - SS

Here they are translated to last year's OPS:

744

737

743

722

755

717

711

691

663

That, and without Greene they have only one sure thing in their rotation (Pineda).

If the Yanks trot this lineup out there, I think for the first time in a long time they will finish last in the East.

Well, the Yankees will save some $5 million a year by signing Miller and letting Robertson go, and they will get a sandwhich pick in the draft when Robertson signs elsewhere, but on the field, the Yankees aren't appreciably different with Miller than they would have been with Robertson. All in all, this isn't so bad for the Orioles, IMO.

Do you know something? You think Robertson gets 5M more a year than Miller?

No. Don't know anything. I had just read a while back that he was looking for $15 million AAV. If he gets less, so much the better. The point I was making is that on the field, there is a negligible change for the Yankees with Miller instead of Robertson, IMO.

Just saw that. Disappointing news for sure. I'm trying to remain positive that the front office has a plan.

The Yankees have had a dominating closer for 20 years. Them wasting 36 million on a closer does not concern me. This is a sideways move for them. They are no better than last year after this signing.

Good for Miller though.
