Seems a little pointless to promote him with five days left in the MiL season, but I assume this was done due to other roster issues, not for developmental reasons.

As of his promotion, Sisco was 3rd in the Eastern League in batting (.319), 1st in OBP (.405), 10th in OPS (.827) and 7th in doubles (28).

PS - Just saw that he's having a big day for Norfolk. Good for him!

4 for 4 tonight. Just another day at the office. BA back up to .320.

I can't way to see this guy in Baltimore next season.

Career high in innings logged at catcher and a career high in fielding percentage. Most impressive is the only four passed balls on the year. CS percentage is around 25 percent but that could theoretically improve to around 30 percent (league average) on the big league club where we have several starters that hold runners very well. He seems to be coming along defensively.

Doesn't get traded. Grand Slam.

It comes and goes.

Both him and Wynston Sawyer (promoted to Bowie once Sisco was promoted) had good starts in their first ever games in the new leagues.

Sisco did allow a stolen base, but this could be a good way to get him a few games leading into next season.

Sisco is back with the Baysox today - not quite sure what the point of that was. I guess Norfolk just needed a body yesterday.

Is he? When you click on the boxscore on milb.com for the Sept. 2 game it takes you to the Aug. 21 boxscore. Some glitch?

I think he's still in Norfolk.

I saw that too - only logical thing to me is that it was a suspended game?

Ah, it looks like you are correct. It appears they finished a suspended game and then played a 7 inning game. That all makes sense now.

This is the most underrated Orioles prospect that I can remember. He keeps getting doubted because of the low home run totals and defensive concerns, but I think he's the real deal.

Everyone always points to BB/K ratio has being a big predictor of big league success and that's always been a big strength for him. He's hit everywhere and been among the league leaders in BA and OBP, all while being young for the levels that he's been at. His surface numbers on defense this year were fine and there is no reason he cannot develop into an average or better (defensively) big league catcher. He's not a small guy and has enough power to hit it out to the opposite field in bigger ballparks. I think he will hit 10 to 15 homeruns a year playing in Camden Yards and 30-40 doubles.

I'm only worried about the defense. Surface numbers don't tell you that much. However, the league average CS% was 34%, and Sisco was at 25%. In 83 games, he allowed 100 stolen bases or 1.2 per game -- league average was 0.72 per game. So, teams ran on Sisco more than 50% more often than on the average catcher, and they were successful a much higher percentage of the time. And Sisco's numbers got worse as the year progressed. Seems to me there are still a lot of questions about whether he can stay behind the plate.
