I'm trying to remember an O's starting pitcher who was ever this bad in a season as Tillman is right now... Steve Trachsel maybe?

It's difficult because most probably wouldn't be given this much rope, so you don't really get to this point that often.

That is what he is waiting for.

As long as there is a lead he is giving his "ace" a chance to work out of it.

Tilly hasn't been the ace all season. You could make an argument that it's Chen or Jimenez, but definitely in no way is it Tilly. Even Buck, as slow to adapt to change in player performance as he sometimes is, should be able to acknowledge that.
