I am not a big Dan Duquette fan, I do not like the direction he has taken. And I also credit Andy MacPhail for most of the success this team has had.

And who gets the credit for "awful" farm system? Please dont say DD ruined what Andy built . . . .

Kind of surprised you guys are upset by this trade. As far as I'm concerned, the Cubs lost this one. Lake completely rebuilt his swing and approach this year. Going from a pitch guessing, no walk taking hacker to a very disciplined hitter. He has massive tools, the kind that would make him a 5WAR guy if things ever broke right. The problem with him is that one day he'll absolutely wow you and make you think you've found a piece for the next decade. The next day he'll look like he doesn't belong in minor league ball, let alone the majors. If the Orioles manage to do what the Cubs couldn't and harness those tools, they've got themselves a stud.

I bet if you go back you will find folks that didn't like the Bedard trade. If this board was around back then there would have been someone screaming about trading away Milt Pappas.

There are still people screaming that Andy did not hold out for Kershaw or Cueto and Bruce.

Hunter got the save tonight.

Was happy to hear it. A message from a Cubs buddy of mine:

"Hunter came in with a guy on third and a 4-1 lead with one out in the 9th inning tonight in his first Cubs outing and picked up the save in a 4-2 win over the Brewers. Guy at third scored on a groundout. He only was in that situation because Rondon had worked 3 straight days and Motte started the ninth and was looking shaky."

Reporter: Tommy, what would you say your out pitch is?

TommyGoesBoom: "Any pitch I get an out with?"

Actually, a lot of people were unhappy about trading Milt Pappas. He was a good pitcher. I was especially unhappy, as Pappas had taught me how to throw a curve ball at a clinic. That unhappiness went away within a week into the season, though. :)
