Or. Maybe he just wants to make certain he never has to do back in shame, A eight year MLB career at substantial money.

Yeah, like most deals with professionals negotiating on both sides it is a win-win. Add in the posting fee and the deal isn't that deep into the bargain bin. The value (for the Dodgers) comes comes mostly from being outside the arbitration structure.

What if he is Yoon. Or Wada? And not Chen.

They are the Dodgers, this amount of money is peanuts. No big deal if he is Yoon to them. Frankly, it isn't that much of a gamble period given the price of starting pitching.

Of course there are no sure things, but comparing Maeda and Yoon's track records seems to be a bit unfair. With the caveat that I know virtually nothing about the respective quality of these leagues, Maeda hasn't posted north of a 2.60 since 2009 in the Japanese league, while Yoon didn't have nearly the success in KBO. Again, not sure if we're apples to apples here, but Yoon's numbers were far from eye popping.

Seems like pretty manageable risk, especially for a team with deep pockets like LAD.

Especially for a team with very deep pockets. It does.
