Do we even know if Span is healthy now?

I wonder if the threat of an Orioles physical (a la Balfour) might be a deterrent to Span talking to the O's. We could make him a great offer but it could cost him dearly if he fails the physical and word gets out.

If Davis turns this down, or drags his feet, than he is not a bright man. He's not worth that kind of dough, and to hold out for more would be doing the Orioles a disservice. Like a said earlier, give him until Friday to take it or leave it and then quickly move on to Plan B.

That would pretty much qualify as a near-wow offer. It doesn't seem way above-market or anything, to me. I mean... salaries are getting ridiculous. But agreed - if he wants more, he will have to look elsewhere.

I personally hope we keep him, because i like the idea of keeping anyone who is a great player... versus doing the old Expos/Rays routine.

Span had FAI hip surgery at HSS with Dr. Bryan Kelly. I suspect the hip will be just fine. He did have the hernia and core muscle procedures as well so I suppose its always a possibility.

I think that Span can avsolutely count on a thorough physical exam from any team he signs with.
