With so much money deferred, I change my tune. The Orioles FO was in charge the whole time and Angelos only gave it his stamp of approval.

Someone said early on the thread that Scott Boras is all about getting the big number on the headline. That is the case here. I think Davis wanted to stay, the O's wanted him, and this is how they made it past Boras.

Does everyone realize Davis is still getting 23m a year (in cash or later)from 2016-2022?

He isn't making 17m, he is making 23m a year for his 7 years here. It is nice he gave us an interest free small portion loan, but that is all it is...a loan.

That money will be accounted for.

Again, we don't really know that the net value of the initial offer was 150. But that is how it was reported. From the 154.
