Yep I was there Sat and Sun.....it was empty for a Sunday game. Me and my daughter just sat right behind the Sox dugout....nobody there to complain.

2016 home attendance (12 games): 252,220

2015 home attendance (12 games): 322,332*

* The 2015 figure includes the 0 attendance game with the White Sox, and two of the three "home" games that were played in Tampa, which drew a total of 22,734.

So, we are 70,000 fans behind last year's pace despite the fact that we didn't have three games interrupted by riots this time around. I'd say that's pretty scary news for the Orioles' front office.

In fairness, however, the first nine home games last year included an opening series played on a weekend, a weekday series with the Yankees, and a weekend series with the Red Sox.

GAME 2:O 19,912 o(43.3%)

GAME 4:O 28,803 o(62.7%)

4-GAME TOTAL: OO) 92,435

4-GAME AVERAGE: oo 23,109

It's a bit of a cop-out, but the weather for all but the Blue Jays series has been horrendous. That they averaged over 23k for the White Sox series given the horrible weather and weak draw isn't too bad.

The fact that there were a lot of no-shows in games in which the paid attendance was 29K and 28K on Saturday and Sunday respectively would seem to attest to that.

I don't think that it's a cop-out. It's simply stating what in fact happened.

Thanks for that.

The drop-off does indeed sound alarming, even though it's early and it's cold out.

I think it's more the late renewal following an offseason without really helping the starting pitching.

Usually renewal is around the holiday so maybe people spent their cash on other tthings.

Personally, the late renewal payment was tough - I have a four seat 29 plan and a club pair on Sunday.

Some people don't believe it, but I and many I know won't go into Baltimore after dark.

We are regulars at the Keys now. Kids like it much better anyway. Run the bases and fireworks after every game

I'm sure the Keys appreciate your business.

Jomar Reyes is crushed of your low opinion of him

and he is fun to watch.

The Orioles are crushed that you refuse to attend any of their night games.

And they are fun to watch.

So attendance is down, but why? Is it because people have been influenced by the riots? Do people have less spending money? Less time to go to the ballpark b/c we work too hard? Death of live sports? Poor weather? I'm not sure. Probably a combination of all.

I'd love to see the fans come out though and we're playing some entertaining baseball!

    • They’ve added a handful of additional receivers in the UDFA class https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/rumor-mill-ravens-undrafed-free-agent-tracker-2024-nfl
    • Didn't see today's game in it's entirety but I will say this.  I feel 100% more confident with Mateo playing second and turning  a DP rather than JH right now.  JH will be fine there.  In time.   But even forgetting his hitting, D wise he just isn't there yet.   And yes I know the metrics say he is fine.  But to me, using the eye test, he looked very shaky fielding and throwing,
    • I like Kevin.  He is constantly improving.  My only beef is that he doesn't seem to understand that a foul ball isn't always out of play.   A ball can be hit foul, but still be in the field of play.
    • My preferred day 3 WR would have been Troy Franklin, but he apparently had a bad combine on positional drills (which might have been because he had the flu.)  And he got picked by Denver pretty early.   Devontez Walker is kind of intriguing.  He's 6'2", barely.   A bit on the skinny side but ran in the mid-4.3s.  His route tree is pretty limited, mostly short quickouts/slants and go/post routes. But he's really good at the deep routes.  Sort of a discount DK.  He's reported to have good hands and good deep ball tracking ability as well.  We have to see how that translates in the pro game.
    • Adley looks way more energized and McCann is veteran catcher who is good defensively and handles the pitchers well.  Doesn't really make sense to wear Adley out when the O's are using him at the top of the lineup.
    • Just seems like a more controlled swing from the right side, shorter, flatter.
    • He was signed in the Covid year when they only had a 5 round draft, which is why he was undrafted.  Was showing promise bur tore his UCL in 2022.  Pitched a little last year, this is his first full year back.  Nice to see the good outing.
