How did that work out? Good hitters hit pitches that are strikes. Bad hitters swing at balls. Particularly in critical situations.

Swinging at balls will get you to two strikes pretty quick.

Rickard did not swing at a pitch that was not a ball. That is a terrible approach knowing that this is exactly what CC was going to do. Why throw a strike if you will swing at anything?

Frankly I think he is over his head.

I'm not suggesting give up on him but he shouldn't be playing every day and he shouldn't be leading off.
