Topped out at 90.

Not a good sign. At all.

He topped out at 89-90 w/ the Orioles usually sitting around 88 with his fastball. With his change being around the mid 80s, that's not enough differentiation.

Last year he was sitting 90-91 with a peak of 94. To lose 4-5 mph off your fastball and being that close to your changeup is going to be disastrous.

Yeah he doesn't have a great arsenal of pitches or a deceptive delivery so if he can't change speeds effectively, he's in trouble (and so are we).

KC then Toronto are the next two teams that our number 5 starter has to face. TJ pitched real good in KC early on year but Gordon and Moose are out now. No way does he face the Jays.

The next time they need a number 5 is Saturday June 18 also vs the Jays. Maybe Gallardo can be ready by then. Today is the 2nd so he could get 2 more starts in. Then there is an off day on the 23rd but a DH is on the 25th. From June 28 to July 18 taking advantage of off days and the All Star break they need a 5th starter only once on July 2 until July 19 they need another. That would be the time to skip Ubaldo or Wilson to conserve innings.

Didn't really see too much in Duensing tonight. Definitely not enough to lose our bullpen flexibility and go back to a pen without options. As soon as we need a fresh arm I see him getting DFA'd.

He did get Ortiz though ;)
