The NYY brought up our old friend Chris Parmelee to take Tex's spot. Their options at 1B are Parmelee, Refsnyder (who played his first game at 1B last night) and Romine once McCann is ready to catch.

By the way, does anyone know why the videos of "We're Gonna Boo Teixeira" have been expunged from the Internet? Copyright problem? The power of the Evil Empire?

It appears that he is out for the season. Good thing he turned down the Orioles.

20.6 rWAR for $180 mm. He had a few good years with the Yankees, but that's no bargain.

Very possibly would have doomed them to a twenty year run of futility.

Free agent at the end of the year.

He's 37 next season.

Is this it?

Does his 2015 season get him a ML contract?

Would he take a MiL deal?

Not a bargain, but certainly not dreadful. Injuries are what did him in.

Most of that contract was when WAR were at 5.5 or 6 million. So maybe not so good after all. Injuries are part of all long term FA deals. All.

I think some AL club signs him to be a DH. Low base with a lot of incentives.

I doubt he plays for a MiL deal unless he really loves to play.

Fangraphs values his Yankee production at $127 mm at then-current $/WAR values. So, a 30% overpay or so. Bad deal but not the worst.

Not the worst. Did you see that San Diego had to pay 30 million to sell Shields?
