He had no command of anything. I disagreed with some of the pitch calls but he was spiking fastballs in the dirt and hanging breaking balls. That is on him not the catcher. Can't face a team like that in that building and get away with nothing.

It's not just about this outing. Gausman has thrown 158 innings to Joseph and 163 innings to Wieters. Hitters have an OPS over .800 when Gausman is throwing to Wieters while hitters have been held to .256/.309/.408 split against him when Joseph has been behind the plate. Gausman has given up more than twice as many HRs (34 with Wieters and 16 with Joseph) in nearly the same number of innings. Gausman has a career ERA of 5.13 throwing to Wieters compared to a 3.89 ERA throwing to Joseph. Gausman had the best year of his career throwing primarily to Joseph in 2014 when he had a 3.57 ERA, 3.41 FIP and allowed only 0.6 HR/9. In the other three years, his ERA and FIP has been over 4.00 and his HR rate is incredibly high (Over 1.4 HR/9 IP). The numbers don't lie.
