He and you it would appear need time.   Rickard to show if he is or isn't an every day player.  You to see him play well enough to change you mind or confirm that he is just a 4th outfielder.

Ideally IMO Hays would hit like he didn't last year and win the right field job.   He has a better arm than Rickard.  Probably a higher ceiling.  But until Hays wakes up and earns a promotion to the majors, I would like to see Joey out there every day.

If he gets is batting avg. up a bit Hays numbers really aren't that bad.

I'm fine with playing Rickard every day. In a perfect world he's take ABs away from players who are going no where in terms of helping the team long term like Alvarez and Valancia.

Previously throughout Rickard's  ML career, he has shown that he can hit lefties for .300. He just doesn't hit right handers good. Yesterday he got 2 hits including a homer off right handers.

Yes, if he hit the baseball instead of striking out, he would have better numbers.

He was also playing his former team, which can usually add a bit motive for some players.

He is no Jimmy Paredes or Chris Parmelee. Parmelee hit three  homers in his first two games. Parades if i remember was leading in batting in May for a little bit. But I would give Rickard a chance. He really is not blocking anyone right now. Don't think he is nothing more then a backup outfielder but we shall see.

Rickard, with his 5th homerun last night, now has more homers than Trumbo or Davis with way less at bats than either of them. And we have $200 million wrapped up in them because they use to be sluggers. Rickard makes minimum wage. Just sayin'.

And yet, it wouldn't shock me if they option him tomorrow when Colby Rasmus returns to the roster.
